Worst movie ever?

This movie is difficult to watch and stay with. By the end though, I thought it was one of the most powerful movie experiences I've ever had. The general story of how supposedly folksy "decent" townspeople can turn evil by degrees was riveting and an extremely important lesson. The acting was also amazing. When I think of my very favorite movies of the last 20 years, "Dogville" is at or near the top of my list.

If by worst you mean a really good movie that made you think, then yes, I agree, it was the worst.

How can anyone think it's a good movie? I can't answer that question. I think it's good. But I like darker movies like Unforgiven and High Plains Drifter, and this movie reminded me of those movies (especially High Plains Drifter).

They say power corrupts. And this film is an illustration (a word used several times in the movie) of how the power over another human being can corrupt a soul and cause such evilness. Yes they were scum even at the beginning of the movie (according to a couple townsfolk), but they really didn't become evil until after they had power over another human being.

I hardly believe it to be the worst movie out there. I have seen Birdemic, Manos Hands of Fate, and The Room. It cannot be worse than those three. Plan 9 From Outer Space is probably 100 times worse. It has to be better than Carnival of Souls. So, although it may not have been a movie you enjoyed or whether it is a movie that I do or do not enjoy, it is likely hyperbole that it is one of the worst movies ever.

Sometimes I think people believe they are SUPPOSED to like a movie. Wrong. Either it moves you, or it doesn't.

If someone says it's the best or worst movie they saw, that's their opinion. I get sick of the elitist chatter sometimes.
