I'm a first-time adult viewer...does it get better?!

I stumbled across the first season at my local library and remembered having read about the show somewhere. I'm cringing my way through the fourth episode right now. I could probably deal with the dodgy accents, the stilted dialogue, and the mediocre acting if those were my only objections, but the music tips the balance; it is just horrendous. I think this is the most inappropriate music I've ever heard for a movie or TV show since I saw "Shriek of the Mutilated" when I was still a teenager.

Does the music ever change? Does the show as a whole ever get better? I never saw it as a kid, so I can't watch it on nostalgia alone.

I'm an adult viewer Rewatching the show after about 12 years and it's still super cheesy but I still love it. The one music clip they got rid of that I was stoked about was the "tuba song" when something "funny" happened. That tune would get stuck in my head and I hated it. Glad they got rid of it during series 4 and 5.

Hahah ah yes..the music...oh man!!!
Well here is how, this, very very late 20's adult got into watching this soapy kiwi melodrama for kids *ahem* I meant to say "TEENS"... AGAIN (and brought her very very late 20's something adult husband into watching it for the first time too)
I first came across it in highschool back in good 'ol '04 on WAM where I think they were showing season 4, because I distinctly remember Ram (not so much the guy, but that he was in a wheelchair and was in love with Ebony) and the technos in gerenal... and at first I remember being like "ugh...wtf is this *beep* but eventually the campiness of it won me over (as it did this time...) so much, in fact, that I used to daydream about being in the show and creating my own character and the story line (OBVIOUSLY my character would make Lex MADLY in love with me, finally reforming him and us running away into the sunset, where we would live in a never ending ecstasy forever more... forget Paradise...that *beep* pales compared to what my hormonal teenage brain pictured...well, okay, actually more like my current brain pictures...oh Lexie...how I love thee...and speaking of Lex, he was the main reason I continued to watch the show)
Then, like last year, I randomly remembered this show and wanted to see if I could find it. Find it I did...thank you very much youtube!!! You da greatest!
I remember being annoyed at the NEVER CHANGING MUSIC that was used in like ALL types of scenes..be it fighting or drama or something fun and happy..but I gotta tell ya, after they started introducing new music in later scenes, I found myself hating the new music and missing the old... it just became this nagging nostalgic feeling, like being wrapped in a cozy blanket snuggling up to your loved one or your parent..but thats just me hahhaha maybe because it was so constant and never changing, you get used to it and it starts playing tricks in your brain like..ye..that music DEFINITELY fit that part (even though any rational, sane person will tell you "NO! BAD GIRL!!! That music did not fit AT ALL!!!)
I also found myself missing the 1st season alot: them always being in the mall, calling it home, making it their home and missing all the character that were lost along the way, especially Tai-Sen, who, even though was annoying at times, was a very integral part of the mall rats as their spiritual leader.. and plus she was so cute in 1st and 2nd season, especially her dance performance during the trading fair episode where that Sasha guy with that stupid ass joker hat broke Amber's heart!!!
In short, it definitely takes a certain person to enjoy it. It does get better and also it doesn't... I think I will be sad and relieved (especially my husband who can't wait for this torture to end hahah it's like a car crash sometimes that you can't force yourself to look away from) when I will watch the final episode.. ;_; Keep the dream alive!!!

It is like a mighty train wreck. You know you should look away, but you can't. The acting is about the worse I've ever seen. With that being said-- the premise is pretty good. I just highly doubt if all adults disappeared that ALL children would start painting their faces like clowns and doing some of cluster-F of the things these kids managed to get into in their story lines.

I've seen better acting in cereal commercials.

And for whoever said (in a different thread) that it was cancelled because the show was getting "too mature" as the target audience aged is DEAD WRONG because season one dealt with child birth and Tai-San coming to Lex's bed to align his chakra (sex), teen marriage, cheating, love affairs-- and that was at the START of the show, so there is no way it got "too mature", it was just a recycled story line every season with a new "enemy" (The Locos, The Chosen, The Technos etc.)

I will admit that it kept me curious, so I would watch every 5th or sometimes 10th episode and I was still able to keep up. (I watched them back to back at first but most of the time, if someone was abducted- they would just reappear with no excuse or explanation.)
