Why Is Thia Movie Hated?
I'm watching it now, I liked it and I remember watching in theaters. Thought it was a cool action flick. Why did IMDB rate it 5.7?

shareI've seen both, the original and this remake. I think I like the remake just a little more. But neither film really hits the mark for me. The first time I saw the remake, I kinda liked it but the second time, it was not as enjoyable.
The morlocks are just weird in both films. And the fact that they can "plunge into the ground" in the this one is so strange. Granted, I've never read the book, so maybe that's what they do, I don't know....
If they're supposed to be evolved humans and whatnot, then why not make them a little bit more like humans. These creatures are more like aliens from another world and they're just not that interesting. But then again, it's plausible that we do evolve into another life form like this in the future and then homo-sapiens (humans of today) become the pray. Almost similar to what most likely happened to the Neanderthal man.
At any rate, the "bad guys" are not that interesting and to be frank, neither is the "good guy" in this movie. Guy Pearce has a way of making interesting scenes come off as a little bland but maybe that's just me, I just don't consider him to be a very good actor.
But all the other scenes are pretty good in this movie, like the moon breaking up and the ultimate demise of the morlocks etc..etc..
I mean, it's not terrible, I would give it a 6.0 out of 10. Decent film but I kind of like that movie Time After Time (1979) more than both TM films even though it's not based on the book, it's a pretty good spin on the Wells' Time Machine story...
Because it was unnecessary, a whimper of a reflection of George Pal's original.
shareI think fans were disappointed about the second half, where he goes into the far future and the story gets really weak.
