Am I the only one that loved the movie?

Robert Redford and Brad Pitt are two of the finest actors today. I believe Brad to be a younger version of Robert Redford, and they worked brilliantly off each other. Brad Pit, in my opinion will go on to be a Robert Redford, act, and do it wonderfully as long as he lives, and helping younger actors.

As far as the movie I thought it was totally underated. Much of my family is in the service, and that is the way things were done in the cold war. For us to believe we never did black ops in China, Cambodia, Laos is ridiculous, as they did in the US with spys.

I loved this movie and think the casting was perfect as well as the acting.

i have to agree with the OP i give it a 9/10... so obviously i think it's underrated to.... cause a 6.9/10, even though not a bad score is a tad low i think it should at least be in the low 7's minimum for the average rating.

cause between Redford and Pitt and just the way the film is done has a great feel to it.

Redford seems to have most of the screen time so i figure if people dont get into redford's character much they might not like it all that much but i was one of the people who really liked his performance in this movie and that's what ultimately made it great for me.

p.s. i think this was the first movie that i really took notice of Redford and then tried to find and watch some of his past movies like 'The Natural' (great baseball themed movie probably my favorite out there for the genre) and 'The Sting' etc etc.

@ cehester ...

yeah i see what you mean about the 'fans' stuff as some people go off on people for no reason or start a flame war trying to justify why they dissed or liked a film and try to out do the other guy by talking all complex etc etc. i think you get the point lol

but anyways...

actually i seen 'Sneakers' (1992) not long ago for the first time and i gave that a 8 (but if i had to choose a 7 or 9 i would say 7) as it was pretty good (i mainly watched that cause of Redford as i somehow ran into that film on this website)... but i only seen it once so far and for me to usually appreciate a good film or know how ill like it after many watches i usually need to see a film at least twice, maybe 3 times before i know how it will sit with me for sure and in the big picture ;)

as for Meet Joe Black... i also gave a 8 (no less than a 7 for sure) but i feel this film aint something i could watch alot although it is definitely something i can watch more than a few times and still like... it's one of those films you sorta got to be in the mood for to watch.

as for Breach i actually thought that was OK ish, not bad but nothing great (i.e. nothing i would really care to watch more than 1 time for the most part) as i gave that a 6/10.

but 'Spy Game' is easily the overall best film out of the ones you mentioned in my opinion. in 2nd it mainly depends on my mood as to which i would take be it 'Meet Joe Black' or 'Sneakers' and in a distant 4th i would put Breach.

and i seen 'Spy Game' many times so far (more than i can remember) and i KNOW it's a film i can watch over and over and still appreciate quite a bit ;)

overall i liked "Charlie Wilson's War" (7/10) to and even though i only seen it once so far i think it has a chance to be good for many viewings but i dont think i would go more than a 8 for it... but you never know cause sometimes i seen movies that get better the more you see them, take for example... "Lord Of War" (2005) as when i first viewed that i gave it a 7-8/10 and now it's a 10/10 from me as there's just something about that movie that i really like and since the year 2000 to date it's one of my favorite films (and even in general it's one of my favorites). i probably seen it at least 5+times now so far.

p.s. i still aint seen 'gangs of new york'.

I love this movie, it never lets me down. I just love how smart it is, not much left to luck with Redfords character, yet he's fallible enough to be real and not omnipotent but streetsmart, prepared, self-reliant and sneaky as can be.
I just love how it all wraps up nicely and leaves his 'interrogators' knowing he played them beyond what they felt possible to such smart and important men - and knowing that he would dissapear without a trace once he was out the door

I gave it a ten as I think that it has everything that a great movie requires to make it a classic movie with a tight script, class performances from all the leading cast members & an original story.

Khruzek,
You are definitely not the only person who loved the movie! I was very pleasantly surprised and was very into the story. Great acting by Redford and Pitt. I think I gave it an 8 or 9.

reply

No you're not. I love it too. Definitely one of the better spy movies there is out there.

Love is a strong word but I definately liked it alot

no you are not

You are not the only one. I think this is a highly underrated movie. Shows the CIA in a light that i think is probably pretty close to the way things really are which is rare in movies today.

Yes, definantly a great movie. I love the ending, especially when Bishop is hears the name of the operation and realizes how he got out.
