.....when if you don't like a character, you start a hate campaign against the actor playing him. Fiction/reality- some people can't tell the difference.
You can take a break from QAF but yet it never takes a break from you.
You're a hopeless fan when you still swoon when you see Brian and Justin suck face and although you've seen the same scenes over and over it still continues to excites you.
You know you're a hopeless fan when you try and listen real close to every word Brian speaks to hear Gale's southern accent sneaking out
.you feel tempted to get a 'death day' cake, black balloons and a coffin for your friends 30th birthday party
I have endured every episode of hellcats just at the chance of getting a glimpse of Gale Harold and maybe a sliver of Brian Kinney.
"ENDURE" is the right word!!;) I stopped watching when someone posted a link to a site that only shows Gales scenes from Hellcats....no need to abuse your eyes with other peoples scenes after that, hahaha;)
And I thought of one myself...When you watch everything that includes a QAF cast member and wait anxiously for releases of shows/movies/interviews/trailers and pretty much whatever that includes a QAF cast member (especially Gale )
And I thought of one myself...When you watch everything that includes a QAF cast member and wait anxiously for releases of shows/movies/interviews/trailers and pretty much whatever that includes a QAF cast member (especially Gale [] ) That one's great and very true! A while ago I caught a glimpse of Sharon Gless in a movie. I forgot its title and what the movie was all about. All I can remember is seeing a very young Sharon for a few seconds as a phone operator! I swear my mind is totally blank about any other details in that movie.

...when your six degrees of QAF filter is stuck in the ON position.
I was looking at Live Nation concert list and saw Matthew Good. I wondered if it as the same one who did "Weapon," one of my favorite QAF soundtrack songs. I had to go looking and, yes, it's him. Now I'm motivated to check out his politics.
"Weapon" is one of my faves from the whole series. Actually between all the seasons my fave soundtracks were seasons 1 and 3, not necessarily in that order.
...when your six degrees of QAF filter is stuck in the ON position. I really like the way you express your ideas; always full of imagery and play on words.
Thank you for sharing, cls. I love this song too, more so because it's closer to the type of music I listen to. I feel the same way as Buffy regarding QAF's music in general (I think season 3 is my favorite).
Season 3 is definitely my favorite. It's the only season with a happy, hopeful ending in my opinion. As for the music used throughout QAF's 5 seasons, I discovered artists that I had never heard of and I found a whole new world of incredible songs that were brilliantly used. The same can be said for some of the music used in videos. Here's another Matthew Good song that I love. Along with beautiful Brian and Justin. :)
This song is similar to my music, as well. It makes me want to listen to more of their stuff. I'm with you on the video, too. I tried to pause it when they flashed the background words, and it didn't help.
I don't have an iPad but since I got hooked on QAF a few years ago, I haven't changed my phone's ringtone, which was also "Proud." However, just a few days ago, since I've watched 509 for our marathon, I can't get the music that plays when the end credits roll out of my head (Genius and the Thieves by Eluvium), so it's now my new ringtone!
I love this song! I am looking for the music score so I can play it in the piano. I think the music was beautifully chosen to express Brian's depression in Babylon.

You watch the entire series in two weeks and want more! In fact, I'll probably just watch random episodes again since I have two weeks left of vacation.
Also: 'QaF' helped me realize that I need to be a better gay man. I'm going to start this year!
I was watching a movie the other day which contained the line "concerned citizens" and instantly added "for the truth" and had a fangirl moment. And after learning Gale is in Hellcats, I immediately downloaded all of the current episodes, just so I could watch him in it. Someone mentioned earlier that Gale's southern accent comes through on some of the words he says. I now have to rewatch all of those scenes, just so I can hear his accent. I downloaded all the seasons a couple of months ago, and have watched it constantly since. I have each season like 5 times now. A day doesn't go past where I don't watch it, even if it's just a favourite scene before going to bed, or reading fanfic. I'm constantly sending my best friend messages of facebook about QAF and it didn't take her long to realised I'm completely obssessed. And after watching only gay sex in a tv show/movie/whatever (due to only watching QAF for weeks on end), watching a straight sex scene in a movie was so weird.
When you get excited about the fact that Gale Harold isn't wearing shoes or socks in his house in a completely different tv show. And are very annoyed that's he dances with someone who isn't Justin. (It isn't half as romantic and amazing as the prom dance though. So very glad. I did not want it to taint it.) Also, Gale Harold plays guitar. How did I not know this?!?! (Seriously, I've really gotta get at least one of my friends hooked to QaF or meet someone who is already obssessed. I have no-one to squeal about this stuff with).
Not only can he play the guitar but he has a beautiful singing voice. He sang and played on stage in the play Orpheus Descending in 2010. On opening night I was sitting in the front row just a few feet from the stage which was on the same level. Gale sat down on a box right in front of me and started playing. It took everything in me not to say OMG out loud. And when he began to sing with the sweetest voice ever I nearly swooned. I saw the play three other times after that. Needless to say when the doors to the theater opened there was a big rush of women - and maybe some men too - trying to grab a first row on the left seat. :) I deliberately went for the second or third row after that because being that close to him is too much to handle.
...You happen to watch a commercial about Snow Patrol in concert and you get all excited about it and start screaming, even though you had never heard of the band or knew any of their songs, except for this one: http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=qaf+chasing+cars Thanks to the many QAF fanvids made with it!
You're a hopeless QAF fan when you stay up to 1:30am to watch for the first time on TV (Ovation) the very first QAF episode featuring Gale Harold and Randy Harrison and find out it's that British one! You don't understand one word they are saying and the actors and everything else about it is just not the same. Lastly you do everything in your power not to throw a shoe at the television because you are royally p'od! lol HEY EVERYBODY!!!!!!!!!
I believe I'm loved when I'm completely by myself alone...Savage Garden
You know you're a hopeless QAF fan when you buy a swing and all you think about is that scene between Brian and Lindsay, where they're trying to set up a swing for Gus, and you're hoping when you go to set it up yourself (I'm planning to do so with my mother for my 2-year old nephew) it would be as funny and frustrating as it was in QAF!
LOL! I was up and turned it on, too, disappointed that it was not "our boys." My DirecTV guide even listed the US cast. That has happened before, so I was somewhat prepared.
Welcome back, BTW, amethystlady!
The other reason I laughed was that I was going to look for this thread to post on it. I owe it to Brian that I got a good score in Words with Friends with the word "amyl," using a triple word/letter combo. I had never heard of it until I looked up his reference to amyl nitrate.
Hahahaha! And I baked meat loaf. Brian mentioned meat loaf when he went to Mike dnd Ben's house for dinner, but there was only mee krob, which by the way I never tasted.

I went to a new club the other week and when the first set was being played there were only like 10 people in the whole big space standing around with the music blaring and lights flashing and all I could think of was the night Brian opened his club and only a few stragglers came and he said "What.... the.... phuq". So that WTF moment wouldn't go away until the room got fuller which was a few hours later.
So many things in life lead back to some QAF moment.
I wanted to give my nasty co-worker the stink eye and all I pulled off was a Brian lip-curl and a cocked eyebrow. I thought of Brians 'I couldn't give a phuq' attitude exactly at that moment and felt extremely satisfied. QAF has saturated my life in a positive, life-affirming way thru and thru. Yes, I'm evil. Bbbbwwwwaaaaahhhhhhaaaahhhhhaaaa
Oh my god, the lip bite! I swoon every time he does it, and then have to rewind the DVD and rewatch it over and over.
Anyway, here goes:
You've decided that guy-on-guy anything is so totally hot, and you'll never again look at a heterosexual kiss or love scene as anything but boring.
You're on a much anticipated and much saved-for vacation in London, and when walking into the hotel bathroom for the first time, you see that the shower stall is glass, and for the remainder of the trip you think of B & J every time you take a shower. Then you think you're pathetic, and you squee inside all over again because of the word 'pathetic'!
Your ears perk up every time you hear a Canadian accent, because most of the smaller speaking roles in QAF were very obviously played by Canadians!
You've started walking around the house in bare feet all the time, because when Brian does it, it looks so comfortable, and darned if it isn't.
You wonder why no hot guys at work drag you into the bathroom and have their way with you in the stall (okay, I'm a hetero woman, but still, it would be nice just once, don't you think?!)
You start buying granny smith apples at the supermarket, even though you've never really liked them before because they're too tart, and then you find you like them again!
You start to think of the name "Gus" as a perfectly good name for a little boy, even though in the past it's really seemed like it was only a good name for an old man.
You lament the fact that you don't have a totally fabulous gay friend like Emmett to go shopping with, and to have plan your parties.
When passing the local comic book store, you look through the window to see if they have the latest issue of Rage, or even an Captain Astro comic.
Brava, KatrinaW! You are a real fan. Loved your post. I wish I could recognize Canadian accent. Lol. Yes, this show had an enormous impact on me too. I've been a fan for 5 years and I still love it, and think about it when something show related happens. I agree with you, after seeing the show straight kiss and sex are totally boring to watch on Tv. Guy on guy action is so much more interesting!

Oh, and one more. I was watching the last episode of S2 this morning while going to work, and Debbie ran out with a bag of lemon bars to give to Ben. And then I was craving lemon bars!
Mmm, Lemon Bars! Sorry, had a Homer Simpson moment there!
I now know I'm a totally hopeless QAF fan, because I've been seeking out music from the show, or inspired by the show, or that's used on fan videos on YouTube of the show, and quite a few songs are of the 'thumpa-thumpa' club music variety, which I normally hate. But a lot of them are really good!
So, QAF has changed my taste in music! Gosh, the music used on this show is brilliant!
That happened to me too. Some songs I love today I first listened in fan music videos on Youtube. Some of these songs were never in the show, but they bring me Brian and Justin anyway.

I know the feeling! I'm mostly a Rock/Instrumental music fan but now whenever I hear Robbie Williams' "Angels" and Spice Girls' "Viva Forever," I squee like an idiot even though I used to consider such songs veeeery cheesy, but darn YouTube and the very well done QAF fanvids, hide me! Same thing with the club music variety but I blame the show itself for that "conversion." Definitely hopeless.
