autistic girl?

For anyone who has had to live with, deal with, care for, or manage a child with autism, the so-called autistic girl in Rose Red is a gross misrepresentation of the disorder.

I know--my child was born in 2000, and everyday is a struggle.

You have to realize that autism is a very broad spectrum of mental disorders. You got people with aspergers like me on the easy side and you got people who cant live by themselves on the deep end. but there is a lot of people in between and you cannot judge millions of people based on a sample of one even if it is your child.
It is fairly hard to misrepresent autism because autism does not have strict borders to begin with. Your understanding of autism seems to stem from 50s r 60s level of understanding. Considering you are growing one yourself i woudl expect you to be more familiar with reality.

That figures - It's not the only time that there has been a misrepresentation in a Stephen King story. He seems to misrepresent Christians every chance he gets. I have Asperger's Syndrome, which is a form of autism. I have not seen this movie, but I am guessing that I would be disgusted with it for more than one reason. If anyone would like to see a proper representation of autism, I would recommend the movie Temple Grandin: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1278469/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1
