I'm kinda glad Tupac didn't get the role
After watching "Juice" and "Above the Rim", it would've been too weird watching him getting smacked around and treated like Tyrese did in this movie, lol

JS claims Baby Boy was for Pac. It was not etched in stone. Tupac did not sign on to do the film. Considering that the script was made after his death. JS said he always had Pac in mind to play the character Jody. That doesn't mean Pac was ready to star in the film. The only films Pac was set to shoot was Woo (1998) w/ Jada, Star Wars Ep. 1 (1999) and One Eight Seven (1997).
