Remove Halle Berry and keep Rosamund Pike as the only Bond girl

Instead of making her a villain and having Halle Berry as Bond's love interest, imagine what the film would have been like if you completely removed Berry. Instead the only love interest is Pike who instead of just turning out to be a double crosser at end, she has second thoughts after Bond convinces her he is mad or something and turns out Graves is the one who kills her after she confronts him on the plane about his world plans. Imagine then the fight scene between Bond and Graves with Bond being able to turn her to his side only to then lose her. Makes the finale the more dramatic when it's only him in the crashing helicopter getting out alive. Instead of his other 3 films having a happy end, here it ends with him as a lonewolf.

Of course the studio wanted this to be very light hearted yet that is how I would have made it.

I'd like this more than what they gave to us.
And please remove the shittiest Bond title song ever!

Composer Carl Davis tried the impossible... attempting to re-record and re-arrange Madonna's disco pop song into an orchestral melody without making it sound like anything from the film version. As much as you may despise the song in general, this is worth checking out:

Sounds interesting, but still no great song. My favorite is Nobody does it better. Hard to top...
But thanks for sharing.

Does not ring any bell. So I guess I wasn't impressed that much? Sorry.

Goldfinger by Shirley Blassey & Live and Let Die by Paul McCartney are strong contenders too

'The Living Daylights' is one of my favs.

As for Brosnan, 'The World Is Not Enough' was highly underrated. Not to mention it's like the only Bond theme sung from perspective of a villain.

Yes that wouldve been better, Berry could've still been in it but like like Teri Hatcher or Monica Belluci's extended cameos.

Also less CG, a sane director, and youd have a decent Bond film (well it pretty much is until they get to the ice palace )

reply

Again Brosnan should have played the role more coldly instead of right away giving into his personal habits and lusts when escaping from the ship M was holding him on. They could have done a Licence To Kill vibe with him now losing his 00 status while suffering from constant nightmares from the torture he experienced.

Either way this film will always have such a brilliant gritty opening pre titles sequence to me.

reply

Yeah, this is a good point. It starts off really great and slowly gets worse. When it gets to the Ice Hotel it flips into parody. A grittier version where Bond is bitter he lost his rep and a year of his life would have been more interesting. Getting rid of the dang parasailing a tsunami would have helped as well. That made me through popcorn at the screen.

reply

Not only that there is a jump cut to him leaving the tsunami and immediately he is close to the Ice Palace again with no waves in sight. Odd change.
