Dagmara Dominczyk was terrible

Just about says it all really. She can't act. Her diction is awful and if I had a hearing impediment I would not have understood her because she produces all her sounds through her nose and does not move her mouth. It's not sexy or clever and does not sell the part. This might be the worst acting I've seen in a major film in years. The director really should have been onto this because the part of Mercedes is far too important to be weak. And it's weak because of bad acting.

It's a sad that people can not separate beauty from acting abilities. I was frustrated during the entire movie because of this nasal mumbling. However, I have to wonder how much of it is the actress' fault and how much the director. There were times when other actors also seemed to blow nasal whispers for their lines. Since I have not seen Dagmara Domin_ ..whatever in other films, I don't know the answer to my question, but suffice to say that I totally agree with the original poster and find it very distressing that other posters chose to attack his person rather than rebut his opinion. It's all very telling.

I agree her acting was terrible ,her face was immobile most of the time, and I hated her scratchy voice.

She's obviously gorgeous and I personally loved her voice.

I can't say she's anything like the version I pictured while reading the book (I thought the Mercedes in the book was a bit more feisty and a lot stronger) But then I could say the same thing about the whole film.

Thank you, OP! She was gawd-awful. It wasn't a great production, but I think I could have gotten involved just by the other excellent actors and the classic story, but for how distracting and disappointing she was every time she came on screen. Ugh.

Yep! I agree with the OP and others who have said that her voice is ANNOYING and it's hard to understand her lines. This is the only movie I've seen her in, but she was just awful in this performance. Oh well.

I wish there's a new production for The Count of Monte Cristo. I'm ready for another go around :)
