Title change for dumb America ??

I heard many, many years ago that Warner Brothers were concerned that most/all Americans would not know what a Philosopher was, hence the name change...anyone know if this is true ?.....

Mind you in light of current events,i could understand it if it was released now.

"Dumb America"

Smart enough to beat you guys in wars twice, in the 18th and 19th centuries, then cross the ocean and rescue your pathetic ass from Germany, twice. Don't worry, we'll be here when you need us again.

What a what was? Philosopher? I had to look that up.

Speaking as an American, that title is still too smart for me. Couldn’t they have just called it: Wizard Kid and the Magic Rock

Every movie undergoes a title change in foreign countries you idiot, and it's not because Americans are dumb. As stated above, "Philosopher" in American English in no way denotes magic. There are thousands of words with different meanings in England vs. America:

Fag - UK=cigarette, US=homo
Boot - UK=rear car compartment, US=winter shoe. We call it trunk.
Motorway - UK high speed road, US=Highway

The list goes on.

It’s true but it happened before the movies. I have British book with the Philosopher title, and remember when they released the same book in the US and changed the title.
