Jess's appeal

Just finished season 3 and while I don't think Dean's an interesting character and he isn't right for Rory he''s definitely a much better boyfriend than Jess!

Jess treated Rory like absolute a crap! And their relationship was basically them fighting!

So for those who do like him what is the appeal?

I'm genuinely curious and don't want to start off any ship wars

I think Jess is the classic teenage stereotype that a lot (not all) of teenage girls fall for. Dark hair, dangerous (ha), smokes, bad attitude but secretly loves the girl. Its a phase for sure. Logan had his issues and was a bit of a pretentious a** but he was the most suited for Rory.

Tbh, I don't know why I like Jess so damn much. He was a pretentious dick most of the time and I usually find the whole bad boy stereotype overdone and tedious.

But I loved Jess for some reason. The guy was a hot mess. I think I loved him more as a character than as a boyfriend for Rory (although I did like them together until his downward spiral towards the end of S3).

Mainly, I thought he had amazing chemistry with both Luke and Rory and brought out interesting sides in both of them. And I don't know how, but he managed to make me want to slap him one scene and totally sympathize with him the next. I liked that unpredictability.

I liked that while he came across as a "bad boy," as the show went along, he started to seem more like a guy who had no clue what he wanted or how to cope with his anger and played up the bad boy image as a shield. I wish we could've dove more into his mindset, which I assume the spin-off was intending to do, but oh well.

I do think S6 Jess had finally become healthy enough for a long-term relationship with Rory.

Anyway he was a total screw-up--but for me, he was an interesting, sympathetic screw-up, if that makes sense.

Jess is every smart girl's dream boy. Reads Ginsberg, knows Dickens, listens to the Clash..makes super smart jokes and cultural references...he's handsome, bright, sarcastic, funny...he's the man who doesn't need to ask for anything...he hates everything so if he picks you it means you must be really special. C'mon...what planet did you live in high school? However, if you are not a rocker I might understand why Jess doesn't look interesting to you. Me and my friends love punk music and read Dostoevsky and we have always found him "the dream guy". LOgan is not bad too, what Logan lacks in "left-wing intellectual" can be compensated by the fact that he's loaded and hand outs Birkin bags :)
