Funniest Scenes

Season 6 episode 13 Friday Night's Alright for Fighting has to make the list.

The way they go from yelling to acting completely polite and laughing several times is just genius and well written!

Any scene with Paris... especially her meltdown during the speech.

Lane broke up with Zack and she is working with Mrs.Kim, treating every client like Mrs. Kim. Cracks me up every time!
"you break it, you buy it!"

Also, a few episodes later Zack is trying to write a song to prove to Mrs.Kim that he will be able to support Lane if they get married. So, he is singing his new song to Mrs. Kim and when he stops:
Mrs Kim: Stinks.
Zack: Great.
I love their deliveries, they make me laugh each time I watch it.

When Luke has to run the Dragonfly Kitchen. When Sukie calls and Lorelai says something about "Baby, you had me at carrots." When Sukie responds and Lorelai says, "I see we've entered the no humour zone." In fact, that whole bit is great.

There are a few moments that come to mind, but I'd rather highlight an episode. "I Get A Sidekick Out of You" is probably the most thoroughly funny episode of the show and one of the more warped installments. It's the type of super quirky, high energy episode that sometimes annoyed, but in that episode it was executed near perfectly.

Lorelai singing "Did you ever know that you're my hero" after the Jess and Dean house party fight.

reply

Luke pushing Jess into the lake makes me cry with laughter. The gif alone is hilarious, you don't even need context.

Friday Night's Alright for Fighting is definitely my favorite episode for that dinner scene. That was amazing television.

A rose is just a rose.

That dinner scene in Friday Night's Alright for Fighting is edited in a surreal, almost Lynchian way. Like you don't know what's being said and what the characters are just fantasising about saying.

reply

Agreed with the comparison! The switch in tones, from drama to humor and the weird jarring editing gave a surreal feeling from the scene was definitely Lynchian in its way.

That one is the best. I have a couple more favorites.

Rory meeting Christopher's parents for the first time, and she gets nervous and curtsies.

Rory's freak out in season 1 when she was late to the Shakespeare test. "And for the last time, the name, is RORY!"

I also laughed so hard at Lorelai singing "Wind beneath my wings" to Rory after she realized the fight that broke out at the party was over Rory.

Generally most of Paris' scenes crack me up, especially when she's terrifying Brad. Or hating herself because Rory is pretty and smart and just better.

Kirk creeps me out. Too much like Norman Bates.

I also love the entire episode when Rory and Lorelai decided to take a road trip after Lorelai decided not to marry Max, and they went to the B&B with the Cat lady. It was hilarious. "sat and forever I'm at work here"

There are a lot of hilarious dialogues in this, so it's impossible to pick just one.

Lane is being sent to Korea to stay with her cousins, and her "luggage" just arrives. She calls Rory and is standing next to this unbelievably large luggage and the first thing she says is, "I am never coming back".

reply

Oh, Oh, just realized I missed another favorite :

We're not gonna have this fight in a flowery bedroom with dentists singing "Gypsies, Tramps and Thieves" in the background. It's too David Lynch!

Love how Lorelai is still sharp as heck in the middle of a fight.

great moment.

I'm posting again to bump up the thread, and to add this one. (I'm re-watching, and can't believe this slipped my mind)

Richard and Emily's friend with the French girlfriend are at the Gilmore house, and the guy asks Rory if she speaks any French, and Rory says "just a little" (both in English and French) and he asks Lorelai, and she's like:

"Even less. Voulez-vous coucher avec moi,ce soir. That's about it!"

LOL. 
