I am really startled that this film received THAT poor a rating! I really liked this movie, it was very clever. Yes it was flawed, but it was quite underrated and certainly deserves a better rating than this!

Same here. I walked out of the theater having enjoyed it more than I did the original. I have a lot of "so bad, they're good" DVDs sitting on my shelf, but this is my favorite of them all, so I don't care what anyone says about this movie, or the IMDb rating. I love this movie and in my opinion, is a fun mind-*beep*.
I gave it a ten star rating, not because it's a classic or an example of masterpiece theater, but because of a combination of re-watchability, a good soundtrack, a twist ending that had my jaw on the floor when I first saw it, a decently original (at the time) take on hysteria and bent reality due to obsession with pop culture, and honest performances by the cast.
My easy-going nature is gettin' sorely f#ckin' tested!
I wouldn't say its "so bad it's good", it IS genuinely GOOD! It isn't a paint-by-numbers sequel full of shaky cam work, which would have killed it.
But what really did it was its title. BW2 invokes a certain look and feel and this was not trying to be that film. It was trying to be book of shadows, a film based around that histeria that the BWP created.
I think Artisan forced the BW into the title, among other changes.
Yeah, it doesn't seem fair to me. This film definitely doesn't deserve such a low rating. I don't know if people were expecting something along the lines of the first film, but it´s really not bad. I know a lot of people who gave this sequel a second chance after many years and they ended up liking it a little bit more.
I really felt quite distressed at not receiving an invitation - Maleficent
Absolutely :) I really loved this film, and honestly prefer it to the first; I loved the first film as well, but to me the sequel was more compelling, engaging, and had a creepier atmosphere to it (also really liked the films concept of showing the effects of a popular film on society). Really an underrated work of art :)
