Point of Angela Bassestt?

Can someone tell me what the point of Angela Bassestt was. I mean she was in the movie for about 15 mins all togther and she barely said a word. For such a good actress she deserved more. They should have used someone else if it was gonn be like that. However, aside from that I thought that this movie was ok. The whole actual robbery scene was worth watching it for. Everything else was mundane. As far as Bobby D is involved he can do no wrong as far as I am concerned. I love that man :)

I WANNA BE LIKE THOSE GIRLS IN THE MOVIES!

i agree
she served no purpose other than the hug and the 'aww' in audiences at the end of the movie
but seriously, all her scenes could have been cut without taking too much from the movie

Interesting you should mention that. On seeing the movie for the second time tonight on Netflix, I skipped through her scenes. They added nothing of value to the plot of the movie and found them pretty boring the first time.

Likely some studio executive wouldn't green-light the film unless there was some romantic element in the story.

In order for guys to get chicks to see the movie too the studio probably had to have some 'romance' element included, no matter how small a part.

Studios know they need the female audience and if the screenplay didn't have some romance in it they probably demanded it be added later (just my speculation). Most films have to have some 'love angle' for couples to see it together.

That's why even corn-ball movies like 'Bloodsport' had to have the girl thrown in. Can you picture guys trying to get their girlfriend to see it otherwise? 'Come on honey, it's an action-romance movie. The main guy falls in love with this stupid reporter girl. She begs him not to fight & they argue about that but he wins in the end and gets the girl & the trophy.'

I think she added edginess to the heist scene, knowing that if he failed he would lose her, and if he succeeded her would have her in the end. She also acts as a segway (sp) from him being a villain to being her hero. It shows that he followed thru for Brando and her; keeping his word for both parties

Am I the only one that knows that she had ten times more scenes in the original script and later, due to time, majority were cut? She was in over half of the film originally. She talked about it years ago on the Today Show.
