I thought this movie was flawlessly executed. So well acted by Norton and De Niro, even Brando though with limited screen time did a superb job. The suspense in this movie was incredible. It had everything you would want in a heist movie, including a great ending. I find it hard to believe that this movie is rated so low. Anyone else agree?
shareYeah. I just watched it again for the first time in about 9 years. I remembered maybe 10% of the plot. It was like I watched it for the first time. Very suspenseful with great acting from DeNiro and Norton. The plot was very strong and believable. I agree, I give it an 8.
shareI just watched this yesterday. The pace is a bit slow with some pretty boring scenes. I watched three days of the condor the night before and i enjoyed that pacing a bit more.

I enjoyed parts of this film, but it isn't something I'm going to keep coming back to over and over again, therefore I gave it a 6.

I love this film so much, the way they plan out the heist and go over all the angle. Reminds me of Heat, the story is patient but always flowing. Grat acting all around, one of the better movies out there.

The end didnt work for me ... did Norton and De Niro both have disposable cell phones .. usually phone records tie people together, so it was a huge mistake in the movie for me despite the great suspense; the not tying cell phone records together ruined it

Given what we know about De Niro's character, I'd say it's a certainty that he had a throw away cell phone.

But I saw another movie a long time ago on tv and never did get the title of it. Does it ring any bells to anyone? All I remember was the guys were very detailed. They duplicated keys was one thing. After the heist they met up at some abandoned house. They got away with the crime except that the guys ratted on each other. I think they all got caught later as a result. I hope I'm not combining details of two different movies (I have a feeling I am). Other than that, not much info, but I'm hoping someone remembers the name of such a movie or movies.
There really aren't many good heist movies. I enjoyed this one. The Heist was pretty good. Heat was great but dragged a bit with the girlfriend. Train Robbery was ok. Brink's Job (1978) was good too (I may be getting the duplicate keys part from this movie as I seem to recall such a detail in it). Italian job was also good but not too realistic. I also enjoyed Entrapment & The Bank Job (2008). Inside Job was pretty cool. These are all pretty good, but not the best like Ip Man or Ip Man 2 in the martial arts world (to me anyways). I'm about to watch Three Days of Condor for the first time but there must be other great heist, prerrably bank robbery movies.
Escape movies are also my favourite. The smart ones at least. The Great Escape and Escape from Alcatraz are the ones I can remember now as the best but I'd love to see more.

Edward Norton was really impressive, but seeing BRANDO and DE NIRO finally together on screen, was magical! Both of them delivered amazing performances; Brando of course, with limited screen time, but the scenes he shared with De Niro, were fabulous. De Niro on his own was the best -- underrated performance by him since his golden days.
This being Brando's last film, it surely wasn't that bad.... If only he had more screen time... Or better yet, if only Brando's final film could've been something where he was the main focus... But this is still good.
As for the film... well, it's not brilliant -- very good in it's own right. In my mind the great performances were the reason this film carried on well. Nevertheless, an underrated film.
Don't dwell too much on these ratings - the average user has not watched the film and only rate low out of spite and stupidity. It has happened to many a good films on this site.

Well i gave it a 7 but honestly don't think this deserves more than 6.8 .
I mean it was quite good but nothing original and quite long for what it had to show.
