Why I hated this film

First of all, Jack was not condescending to the Don Cheadle character when he directed him away from robing the store with the ''business deal''. Nor was his comment about ''there's got to be some type of program out there for you'' demeaning. He was compassionate and realistic. But we're supposed to believe he's just a big elitist who deserves to be shown this cruel vision of a banal life as some type of punishment. Never bought it.

And what did he really learn at the end of the glimpse? regret.

I think you misunderstood that scene... Don Cheadle's character wasn't vintictive or insulted by Jack, rather he pitied Jack and was laughing at the irony of Jack being so unaware of what he was missing out on that he was trying to save Don instead of saving himself...

Jack wasn't being punished at all, rather he was being made aware of the life he didn't live... family, connection and love...

Agree. Plus, Jack’s intervention basically saved the clerk. He was very brave to get involved and make the deal with Cheadle
