Am I the only person who
adores this masterpiece but finds the rest of Nolan's filmography disgraceful?

shareI agree with you. His Batman movies were overrated, and so was Inception. Although that one was at least interesting.
shareI'm with you! Inception was laughable, and the Batman movies are overrated.
shareHow can you say that any movie is overrated? you realize that opinion is all there is, its not like theres a "right" answer as to how a film should be rated. so when you say that any movie is overrated, all that means is that you didnt like it as much as most other people did
Dont turn out the lights
There is a level of objectivity with regards to quality. Be it quality of cinema, food, or any art form.

I disagree. There is some objectivity in terms of certain traits or qualities, but in terms of purely 'good or bad' its opinion. for example, think of the most disgusting food you've ever had. I guarantee someone out there likes it. That doesnt make you wrong.
Dont turn out the lights
i agree that there is some objectivity with certain things, if there's a film with good reviews that have clearly been influenced by a bias group or maybe its largely thought that its been overhyped and people are buying into its hype, or i don't know, but in these cases it can be seen as fair, objective and understandable that something is overrated, HOWEVER, Nolan's filmography being a disgrace is NOT one of them cases, because i don't think you would find anything but a large questionable minority who think his filmography is a disgrace.
shareHow can you know that?
shareUntil I saw The Prestige Memento was my favorite Nolan film.
I think Nolan did an admirable job of taking the campy and cartoony legacy of Batman and adding real humanity, pathos, heart and grit to it. It still stumbled with the occasional blockbuster trope, but overall I enjoyed all three films.
Inception I really enjoyed as it took you down the rabbit hole making you constantly wonder whose reality you were observing (if anyone's). When you stand back from it all you realize that (other than the interesting premise) the film is basically a James Bond/Mission Impossible romp and not necessarily a high minded metaphysical treatise. That is not a denigration of the film, simply my perception.
The Prestige has all of the right elements for me: Victorian era; The Golden Age of Magic; a narrative that is filtered through multiple points of view at any particular time (see a theme here?). I have watched it many times and I don't tire of it. There is so much going on in that film.
Nolan clearly loves to add layers of complexity to his films by having the subject matter simultaneously interpreted/filtered/transmogrified through different perspectives and viewpoints. It is there in Memento, The Prestige and Inception. It exists in the Batman films too, but it is less subtle and more in the guise of dual identity and a dialog on social justice and natural law.
Memento is a very interesting and unique film. I think it is too strong to say that the rest of Nolan's filmography is disgraceful.
Take a look at following, It's his very first movie made with a 5k dollars budget.
It's my second favorite Christopher Nolan film after Memento.
Yup, same here but they are the only two I like.

That logic doesn't work for me. I like many superhero movies (especially Iron Man, The Avengers, and Brian Singer's output), love Memento, but can't stand the Batman films.

Im not a big fan of Christopher Nolan, but Memento is an amazing movie. Still I wouldnt say the rest of his movies suck. The Prestige was a good movie, not great, just good. The Batman movies are pretty good actually, but Inception I find it really weak. Its the only movie that I dislike from Nolan, he is good, but definately not great at writting and/or directing. Still I enjoy most of his movies, specially Memento. (9/10)

I agree with the OP.
Insomnia was inferior to the original.
The Prestige relied too much on the twist as a gimmick,
Inception was just convoluted beyond belief.
His Batman movies are too self important and posey.
Memento is his only great film,
Limit of the Willing Suspension of Disbelief: directly proportional to it's awesomeness.
