worst movie ever?

Uuuuugh this movie is awful. I've seen ALOT of bad movies, but this one takes the cake for worst. At least most of those other bad movies didnt try as hard as this one.
first off, the acting, uuugh. completely unbelievable and unrealistic, and incredibly cheesey. who would have thought that carl brashear was the bravest greatest man in the world. ever second cuba gooding jr was on screen it made me physically angry, i started hitting my asian friend really hard.
the directing, sweet jesus did this guy try too hard. he made every scene seem like some epic, with the standard emotional music playing and the tears and bla bla bla. This movie shows everything that is wrong with movies nowadays. It is an awful movie in disguise of a moving story, and so many people have fallen for it. At least movies like the upcoming Bad Boys 2 understand how awful they are and admit it. siiigh well i am going to do some major damage to myself to take the pain away that watching this movie has caused me. goodbye

If you think this film was bad, then I don't know what the hell you would do if you saw any episode from Mystery Science Theatre 3000.

reply

what the hell mst3k was origanal and extremly funny and i dont see you making tv shows that lasted 10 years so shut the hell up

reply

Even though it's two years after I posted that, I thought I would make myself clear, aaron1991aaron. I wasn't saying the damn show was bad, I was saying the movies themselves were bad. That's why they were on the fu cking show. That 1991 in your name must be your birthdate, because you have the understanding of a 14 year old. I love Mystery Science Theater 3000. If you couldn't recognize that those were bad movies, you must have had the mute button on.

Another thing: "I don't see you making tv shows that lasted 10 years so shut the hell up." Hmmm. Has Roger Ebert made about 10,000 movies? No, but he is accepted as a critic. I can commend or criticize any movie I damn well please, even if somebody doesn't share my views, and I don't have to "shut the hell up."

I wonder if you are still being alerted by this topic 9 years on? Got anything planned for the celebratory 10th commemorative year?

I, at first, also thought you meant mystery... was rubbish until I thought about it for a second and realised what you must have meant. :)

Let me start by saying that Roger Ebert has written movies:
Writer:
Beneath the Valley of the Ultra-Vixens (1979) (writer) (as R. Hyde)
... aka "Ultra Vixen" - Japan (English title)
Up! (1976) (writer) (as Reinhold Timme)
Beyond the Valley of the Dolls (1970) (screenplay) (story)

So no it is not 10,000 but he has made more that you I am sure.

Also the worst movie ever made is Eraserhead bar none. It has no plot and is the worst acted movie I have ever seen. I do not feel that you are wrong for being critical regarding Men of Honor since there are plenty of flaws with it but do not claim that it is the worst ever unless you have made it through horrible films like Eraserhead.

reply

Look buddy, have you ever heard the word "hyperbole" and why people use it? You are taking his words too seriously.

reply

This is one of the best movies i have ever seen

just that

reply

Ok, theres a difference between having a sttong opinion and being ridiculous. you obviously haven't seen alot of movies if you think that this was the worse. I admit, it wasn't the best movie I've ever seen and I expected more from Cuba Gooding Jr. because he is one of my favorite actors, but it definately isn't as bad as you're making it out to be!! Calm down.

reply

I thought Cuba Gooding jr. was fantastic in this film. This movie was fantastic.

reply

the bloke's kidding guys... he's gotto be...

What kind of movies do you like??? This was an excellent film. But, anyways, if we all liked the same things this would be a boring world...
As for me, your comments are totally wrong...Sorry!!!!

Well I guess if you have seen ALOT of bad movies, you have obviously been spacing out for FAR too long. This movie, in NO way, could be the "worst movie ever". If this movie has caused you any pain, it is probably the pain of perhaps watching a movie that for once doesnt involve a korny, and lazy plot strung together of overused CGI, not enuf blonde, not enuf gun and weaponry. I feel, that in order to have what you want, you may have to lose a leg. This movie is that. I'd rather watch Men of Honor anyday over Matrix reloaded, to which could possibly be the WORST sequel in a trilogy. I enjoyed the first Matrix with some relish, but only relish. So you are saying, that since this movie is SO unrealistic, people don't fight for what they believe in, for what they want? That ASNF? I love this movie. I OWN this movie. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, Im just giving mine. Peace out. ROTK Dec.17

as a matter of fact, i HAVE seen alot of movies, and alot of bad ones especially. the difference between this movie, and all those other bad movies, is that even in something like a film featured on mystery science theatre they are trying something original. sure, theyre failing horribly, but can anyone tell me that the filmmakers of Hercules in New York were trying to make a good movie, you have to assume they were just doing it for fun. Men of Honor on the other hand just follows the routine of the "feel-good movie", with the over the top acting and the orchestrated music playing at the emotional peaks. Men of Honor is more standard hollywood fare than any action movies out, and the worst thing about it is that people fall for it and get manipulated by the same old formulas and come out thinking its a great movie.

How many times are we going to have to go through seeing an underdog beat the odds and have to hear about how uplifting it is? There are tons of movies out there that may not be masterpieces, but they add something new to film making and attempt more than a hollywood safe piece of garbage like this.

by the way, before anyone starts yelling about how i must only like action films, my three favorite movies are Midnight Cowboy, All That Jazz, and Before Sunrise. my complaints with men of honor have nothing to do with the lack of violence but the fact that its like every other feel good movie, tries nothing new and its only accomplishment is manipulation.

richard lam thinks chickens can fly, and that rats are hard to eat.

reply

well seeing as how there is so little meat, theyre mostly bone and tough muscle, it kind of goes without saying, you know? you'd need at least 6, cooked by someone with expertise, to fill even one person, and im talking someone that doesnt need to eat much. And as a tip for anyone interested, stay away, and i mean STAY AWAY from the tails. Not only do they harbor more germs than any other part when cooked, but they are almost impossible to chew through and have absolutely NO nutritional value. I wouldnt recommend it even if you were starving.

and whats this chicken talk? what does a chicken have anything to do with this movie?
theres nothing i hate more than a message board that goes off topic.

oh hey benathy, check out Radio, it looks almost as good as men of honor.

No. Not even close.

i cannot believe that someone thinks this is a terrible movie. It is a fantastic film even though im english i loved it, Cuba's acting along with Bobby de niro's was immense.

HAHA Gili...What a waste!!!

reply

Think of how many movies are out by now....they have been comeing out forever. It is extremely difficult to come out with something new and original by now. And yes we have seen the underdog win many times, but there are onloy two ways it can end. He can win or he can lose and we've seen him lose many times also. I thought this was a good movie and had great acting. It was my favorite gooding performance and I'm not a fan of his...

reply

This movie is a pice of *beep*. A waste of good actors and a good story. Perhaps the director wasnĀ“t the right one.

reply

I totally agree with you. This is one of the worst movies of all time (also the worst role of Robert de Niro / but maybe the best role of Gooding jr. / HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA)This movie has really no plot at all. There is only that painful, horrible and unappetizing american patriotism which I hat most.
Here is my list (my private) of the TOP TEN worst movies of all time:
1)PEARL HABOUR (urgh)
2)MEN OF HONOUR (grghh)
3)CREEPERS
4)INDEPENDENCE DAY
5)UNDERWORLD
6)VERTICAL LIMIT
7)ZAAT
8)THE PATRIOT
9)TERROR VISION (1986 version)
10)DONĀ“T GO IN THE HOUSE

Best wishes... Clemens Ottawa
(and for all the dummies who like that film: HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA)

Ahhh...it's a dumb movie because it features "American patriotism," which you "hat" (sic).

For all the posters who HATED this movie, then you all must have loved "Pearl Harbor" or did it just disgust you that Cuba Gooding, Jr.'s agent outworked all the other hacks in Tinseltown and got his clients prime gigs as two of the U.S. military's most famous African-American pioneers? And he played a pilot in "The Tuskegee Airmen?"
Cuba has picked some real stinkers: "Chill Factor" and "Lightning Jack" come to mind. He's also been able to share the screen with some pretty good veteran actors (Anthony Hopkins, DeNiro, Cruise.) Maybe "Men of Honor" rubbed some of you guys the wrong way, but it was not the worst movie ever.
Obviously you have all forgotten about "Waterworld," I mean "Fishtar." If "Men of Honor" is really all that bad then "Pearl Harbor" and its ridiculous Ben-Affleck-is-shot-down-but-not-really-dead plot twist must have really given you the warm fuzzies all over. Cuba Gooding did "The Fighting Temptations" and "Snow Dogs" for crying out loud, and you knock him for doing serious work like "Men of Honor?" I guess there's no pleasing some people.

reply

????????? Rober de Niro nd Cuba Gooding Jr r 2 of my favorite actors, but this is no way Cuba Gooding Jrs best role, i've watched it 100's of times nd still think its great movie telling inspiring story
