It has been discussed elsewhere, but anyway, there's a German miniseries that was released two years ago, "Generation War" ("Unsere Mütter, unsere Väter"), a story about five friends caught up in the war. Well worth watching!

I got "Generation War" for a Christmas present. Very good. I really liked the part where the viewer was on the receiving end of an artillery barrage as seen through the eyes of a victim; it was scary as all hell. I'd never seen one shot that way.

There's a movie I thought was called "The Bridge" but I can't find it on YouTube now. It was about a group of Hitler Youth who are given the mission of holding onto a small bridge in some small town; meanwhile the mission has been called off and the Wermacht regulars pull back but the word didn't get down to the boys. Maybe someone else knows the title?

There're some damn good Russian films about WW2 made in the past decade, a few of them joint German-Russian efforts; unfortunately most of them don't have English subtitles.

no subtitles - but I think it's easy to get the idea of what's going on without them

I couldn't really stomach generation war. There was a follow of discussion on the BBC with historians and one of the producers which is pretty good.

Watch "all quiet at the western front". It's from a german point of view, well...without Nazis, but i think it has a lot in common.
In the end: young men ( really young, under 18) fighting for a lost war, heroic generals and stupid orders. All of them tired, hungry, dirty..

The book All Quiet on the Western Front was set in World War I and was written by Erich Maria Remarque, a German veteran of that war; there were two movie versions: a 1930 version starring Lew Ayres and a 1979 version starring Richard Thomas, and according to IMDb, a third is currently in preproduction.

Remarque moved to Switzerland shortly before the rise of the Nazis and then to the USA shortly before the start of World War II, while his writings were included in the Nazi book burnings. In the 1950s, he wrote another novel, this time from the point of view of a Wehrmacht soldier who comes home on leave from the Russian Front to find his home town bombed to ruins, but falls in love with a local girl and gets married before returning to the Russian Front. The movie version, A Time to Love and a Time to Die, was released in 1958 starring John Gavin (later Ambassador to Mexico during the Reagan Administration). While Remarque spent WWII in the USA, the movie does show the German POV during the Nazi regime and is arguably as good as Remarque's other work.

Then there's also Cross of Iron and Stalingrad. However, all three of these are set on the Russian Front. I can't think of any movie set on the Western Front that shows the German POV unless you count those that show both sides, like the two movies based on Cornelius Ryan's hostories, The Longest Day and A Bridge Too Far.

There have been comments over the years about this series being American-centric. But it is just the story of one company. Just the men in that one unit. The story could just as easily been about a company of soldiers from the UK or Canada or Germany or Russia. The shared hardship was the same for all. But Stephen Ambrose wrote the history of Easy Company, so we have BoB.

Incidentally, when I first watched Das Boot, I couldn't imagine sympathizing with Germans at that time. But the story is powerful and you care about the people, not the politics

This series is actully a very anti-war declaration. About fighting a war nobody wanted but both sides were forced into. One side by a crazy philosophy and the other having to fight that crazy philosophy.

Indeed; I can't imagine a guy like Otto Carius (Tigers in the Mud) or Ernst Junger (Storm of Steel) getting a fair shake. Carius especially was proud of his service as a 'Tiger Jockey' & he didn't give damn who knew it...

from Siberia.

ATTACK ON LENINGRAD - good eastern front movie.

DECISION BEFORE DAWN - WW2 flick filmed in ruins of postwar
Germany. Pretty good.

DRESDEN - love story between a British pilot and a German nurse.

FOYLE'S WAR - British detective drama in wartime England. Many seasons & episodes. Addictive.

INTO THE WHITE - Based on a true story. German soldiers and British airmen cooperate to survive in a winter wilderness.

NIGHT OF THE GENERALS - good whodunit with Peter O'Toole and Omar Sharif

SILENT NIGHT - with Linda Hamilton. Christmas truce in WW2.

THE SINKING OF THE LACONIA - German U-boat rescues survivors of sunk ship. Based on a true story.

TRIPLE CROSS - spy games with Christopher Plummer

UNDER TEN FLAGS - based on a true story about a German raider in the Atlantic. The captain always transferred the crew and passengers to his ship first before sinking the enemy vessel. He dropped off his prisoners at a nearby neutral port. There's a book on it too.

Some people mentioned Generation War. Personally, I didn't really enjoy watching it. No doubt it's worth a look. Just be prepared for some very heavy handed storytelling that at times just doesn't make sense.

It's not about Hawaii, it's about the things you don't see, like for some war means terrible suffering and death but for others it's a business opportunity and as you can see WWII resulted in the foundation of Israel. There are definitely more sides to the story, not just the "official" they teach in school. I find it interesting how some Jewish people, like George Soros helped sending to death other Jewish people and look where he is now. It's also interesting how after WWII a lot of people were accused of being war criminals for killing Jews but nobody cared about other civilians getting killed and dragging through the justice system those who were responsible for that. Before WWII Jews were criticized for being greedy and manipulating but Holocaust made them untouchable and there are a lot of debates about that until this day(or there would be more but it's illegal in the name of "freedom of speech").

If we're talking about America's entrance into WWII, it's most definitely about Hawaii - not to mention Germany's declaration of war on the United States. That's why a statement like "the Jews were not innocent and in fact got the Americans involved in two world wars" is absolute hogwash.

And a statement like "Before WWII Jews were criticized for being greedy and manipulating but Holocaust made them untouchable" isn't much better. One can always make a case for a more balanced foreign policy in the Middle East, but you'll never get anywhere making blanket generalizations about the Jewish people.

I didn't generalize them, it was the general view at the time, that's why Hitler's final solution was justified in the eye of a whole nation. I didn't say anything about who got involved who in two world wars, so maybe you should address one person at the time so it makes sense what you reply. I pointed out singular cases which can be discussed, like the George Soros one a lot of others.

Zionists tend to see the bigger picture, or the ends justifying the means, in order to achieve their goal. The Jews getting persecuted and killed in Europe ultimately served their agenda, because it led to a mass exodus of Jewish Europeans to Palestine aka Israel

ftr, Zionism is not Judaism, Zionists are usually not even religious, they are just Jewish white supremacists who want a Jewish Empire for their people, and I say "white" because the Israelis are known to be very prejudice against black Jews.
If all goes according to plan, Israel's border will stretch from "the Nile River to the Euphrates river", which means the Zionists plan on a lot more war and genocide in the Middle East, but of course they will expect the "goy", usually American, soldiers to die for this.

Being an American soldier is basically signing up to be a soldier for the Israel Defense Force's "death squad", which is why I'd advise Americans to never join the military

I agree with you, but I didn't want to use this name because there are still a lot of people who think this is myth and part of a conspiracy theory. There is definitively a big difference between religious Jews=the average citizens than people like George Soros.

I'm from Hungary, majority of the officials during the Communist era were "Jewish" and they are responsible for killing so many Hungarians during '56 and after. Interestingly none of the Jewish leaders have apologized for this but they constantly bring up the Holocaust even though the deportations in Hungary happened after the German occupation and were not done by the Hungarian authorities. They labeled Admiral Horthy "Nazi" even though he opened the border to the Polish and a lot of Jews, civilians and even the military escaped through Hungary when it was under siege by the Germans. When his body go reburied there were a lot of wreaths from Jewish people thanking him for saving their lives but I guess history is written by the victors.

I guess the 'Jewishness' of the Commies in Russia during the 'Holodomir' had a lot to do with why the Ukrainians collaberated so eagerly with the Germans-I'd actually seen stuff on TV interviewing some of these surviving soldiers having a 'memorial service' for the volunteers/conscripts. When asked about the 'Holocaust' many did say the Jews 'brought it upon themselves' in Russia/Byelorus/Ukraine.

Speaking of which does Hungary's movie/tv industry ever handle WW2 material?

Yep, Putin is one of the few people who publicly stated the Jews were behind the majority heading and spreading Bolshevism
Although some Jews have spoken about the Jews being behind communism and causing antisemitism in Germany, most have not only refrained from talking about it but will actively silence it, especially the ADL and "hate speech" laws in Europe

According to Hollywood, the media and mainstream history books, the Germans randomly selected the Jews as "scapegoats" and that the Jews were totally innocent of all bias against them

WWII didn't start with the US waging war on Germany, it started with the British and French doing so, the US didn't join until 3 years later.
Not to mention that Pearl Harbor was an attack by the Japanese against the US, the Reich didn't attack the US or declare war on the US, yet the Americans still fought in Europe against the Reich.

The Japanese only attacked the US because President Roosevelt stopped the sale of American steel and oil to Japan, who were in dire need of it for their war against China. The idea that Japan attacked the US because they thought they could conquer it was utter nonsense, the attack on Pearl Harbor was mainly done out of spite. Obviously it was a poor decision by the Japanese to do so, seeing how this gave an excuse for the bankers to push the US into a war that didn't benefit the American people, speaking of bankers....

If you do some research, the real reason for the US entering WWII was likely due to Rothschild's financial control of the US; if you don't know about the Rotchild's, quick summary: they are an Ashkenazi Jewish dynasty going back hundreds of years, they have set up and still control most of the international banks and have financed and married their way into positions in governments and royalty

The Rotchild's were funding the Soviet Bolshevist campaign in Russia, which the National Socialist aka "Nazi's" were in opposition to.
The Reich also removed the international Jewish banking system from Germany and replace it with the Reich currency, throwing out a large debt that Germany owed to banks that the Rothschild owned
On top of this, Hitler has the Jewish elite in Germany, many who are communists, removed from their positions in power in order to "clean up" the nations corruption and fix the economy.

So basically, millions of American soldiers died to save the international banking system rather then to protect the US from any axis conquering,and tons of Jews living in Reich territories are targeted because of the actions of global Jewish elitists and Jewish communist support in Europe

Tons of people killed, lands and monuments bombed, and the Rothschild's and their fellow Zionists win the ultimate prize, Palestine, leading to over 60 years of warfare with the Islamic nations, creating mass hostility towards the Jewish controlled West and the rise of radical Islamic terrorist groups

Also, due to the "allies' deciding to fight the Reich instead of the Soviet, Marxist ideals have been dominating, or should I say polluting, Western culture, including the destruction of Western civilization in the form of "multiculturalism" via mass non-white immigration

As a result, nationalism is again rising in Europe to once again stop Marxist insanity, which will probably lead to civil war

Did you read the article you posted? The US was already interfering in the war by attack their U boats, which is called de-facto war. The "neutral" USA had no right attacking or supporting any nation, let alone blowing up German naval craft

This was Roosevelt's fault, he wanted war but congress didn't, so he illegally had US naval ships attack the Germans ships, breaking their neutrality agreement. Hence, the US declared war on Germany, and then the Germans declared war on the US

Congress should have impeached Roosevelt for breaking congressional and international war time treaty laws, and apologized to the Germans, this would have prevented the US from getting involved in a bloody war that didn't benefit them in the least
