Similar films?

Such as Finding Forrester, Misery, Barton Fink, Secret Window, etc...

Any recommendations? As a writer myself, I often find the personal side of the writer's lifestyle quite interesting, as anyone in the business will tell you, it seems to be information seldom come across, regardless of whether or not it's entirely fictitious.

Thanks.

P.S: I thought this was a brilliant film. It was recommended to me by a fellow writer, and although the synopsis didn't have me too hot and bothered, watching it certainly did!

As Good As It Gets is a well written film about a writer, and so are the Woody Allen films Manhattan, Deconstructing Harry and Bullets over Broadway. As a writer myself I usually do not look for films which have a protagonist who is a writer, but just well-written films, some of my favorites which I reference when I write are; Casablanca, Citizen Kane, Chinatown, Witness, Rainman, Garden State and Little Miss Sunshine. At the moment I am writing a comedy so I use Superbad, Napoleon Dynamite and About a Boy for that. Those Pixar films usually have a very tight script also...

Response to an old post, I know, but anyway...

"About Schmidt" has a similar tone as it deals with an older lonely man coming to terms with his own mortality, and it's told through his narration of letters to an adopted African boy he sponsors, so although it's not necessarily about a writer it does involve a man writing out his experiences in a cathartic manner.

Try "Cross Creek" (1983) about Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0085380/?ref_=ur_urv.

You also might be interested in "The Whole Wide World" (1996), which is about Robert E. Howard, and "Coming through the Rye" (2015), which indirectly deals with J.D. Salinger.
