... but after already declaring several times that he does NOT have a weapon on him and that in his pocket there is a cell phone and cigarettes instead, why does he STILL say to Captain Ramey "How could I hand over the WEAPON when you won't let me put my hand in my pocket"? And couldn't he refute it by saying "Sorry, I meant whatever other personal stuff there is" and couldn't the Captain have remarked "But you said several times you DON'T have a weapon"?

And on another side, when asked after saying "I have cell phone" what are you doing making calls from a booth, couldn't maybe Stu have said something like "The battery on my phone is too low" etc?

What do you think, thanks.

Realisticly, they would have arrested him and done an investigation which would probably prove that Stu had not shot Leon. Still, the Caller wasn't going to let them take Stu away like that and certainly wasn't going to let them prove that he didn't have a weapon at the time. It's also funny that this question reminds me that the whores SAW him using a cell phone and smoking cigarettes. They were very stupid. Also, the fact that Stu was in a phone booth would lend credence that he would be lying about having a cell phone and having a weapon.

Also, could it be, perhaps, that the witnesses may not have SEEN Stu shoot or "use the weapon" but because they saw him in conflict with Leon and there was no real sign that someone else may have been around to shoot, they simply believed it was him and refused to say anything else to the police that may indicate otherwise, right?

Maybe they thought the weapon he had was very small or hidden somewhere etc etc?

I once saw some television series where a witness saw someone, and they recognized his face, moving the dead bodies inside the house, but they actually told the police they saw him KILL those people, and as it turns out, that guy was innocent, as in, he did NOT kill them.

Also, at the very end of the movie...

When all came to a conclusion, why couldn't Colin Farrell's character also tell Whitaker "I TOLD YOU I HAD NO GUN ON ME", after he told him "I already know its there", or something to that extent?

Like, maybe criticize him for being unnecessarily blunt with him or something...
