I hate keanu reaves, anyone agree?

All he does is lift weights and pick winners
shareI saw the movie Hardball and i LOVED it!
I think Keanu Reaves is a amazing actor and the boys in the movie were awsome!
It is by far my favorite movie... hands down!
You are an idiot. By Keanu Reaves is an amazing actor what do you mean exactly? Which parts would you say are "amazing?" I'm just interested because I don't really see it.

He's in good films like this and in **** like Constantine. I think he's one of the better action stars out there in films though. He's better then Vin Diesel, Pierce Brosnan, and Jet Li (even though he was good in Hero and Unleashed his others movie suck).
shareI agree with Vin Diesel but not necessarily Jet Li and definitely not Pierce Brosnan. Can you imagine Keanu Reaves as James Bond? That would quite possibly be one of the funniest movies ever made.

tbots: Maybe you're an ugly man, that's why you hate good looking guys that can act too. So I guess you're not just an idiot but bald and ugly! This movie rocks!
shareno mishalorenzo, I'm not bald and ugly. I'm actually just a 20-year-old college student who doesn't like keanu reaves, if that's possible for you to comprehend. Really, I did not mind this movie at all, but I just feel like Keanu Reaves truly cannot act. There are cringe-inducing scenes in every movie of his that I have seen, and yes, he is a good looking man,but that is about it.

You really don't have to like him, but Keanu is an A-list movie star for a very good reason - he's a good actor with incredible screen presence. Tbots, calling someone an idiot who disagrees with you certainly causes me to dismiss your opinion, anyway.
sharehaha that's fine I respect your opinion, but could you by any chance give me a short list of other A-list actors you think keanu reaves is better than? This is just completely out of interest, and you don't have to if you don't want to. Also, I really do not care if you want to dismiss my opinion that is your own choice.

I think Keanu is great in a number of movies. i'm not saying all his movies are top notch, but the man does have an acting talent. I dig him. peace
If I die today, please make it right after great sex.

Yeah, because the entire movie was simply keanu reaves on screen. I thought the plot line was interesting and the child actors did a solid job, and that it was an overall good movie. However, I did not think keanu reaves was good at all. Anyways, I will be a "pathetic little bastard" wherever I want, but thanks for being mature about your comments.

I think Keanu Reeves has looks and is good at playing a clueless dope -- I can't say whether it's because he really is or that's just the type of role he's good at, but think about the characters he's played -- always somewhat out of the loop. He's good, but he's dopey.
He's definitely been in some awesome movies -- no one's going to argue that films like "The Devil's Advocate" and "The Matrix" aren't excellent, top-quality films. But then he's been in some real duds like "Constantine" as someone else mentioned, and "Johnny Mnemonic"...so I find it hard to say whether the good films he's been in were proof of talent or just luck.
Really, you've got to admit that he can come off pretty dopey at times. I absolutely love "Hardball," but even in this one he's got some real winning lines i.e. "Elizabeth, I get paid under the table to coach that team. And I only do that because I'm in a big hole with two bookies who're looking to kill me." I mean, be it the script or the delivery of lines like that, you just can't help but laugh.
So, with moments like that, I've got to say, I think the kids in this film definitely outdid Keanu and totally stole the stage. In my opinion, mediocre work on Keanu's part, (due laregly in part to some lousy lines) but certainly not his worst, and at least it didn't ruin the movie.
Kenau is awesome :), I don't know why people hate him so much, he's very entertaining to watch and has a unique style
I love his movies
that's just my opinion though
I think avoiding Keanu's movies all together would be impossible. That kid is in everything. One of my favorite hobbies is to go to the Target movie section and just count how many freakin Keanu Reeves movies are on the shelf.
shareI'm going to have to agree with this. Some of the scenes in this movie were quite cringe-worthy. His gestures were a little outlandish. Although I really liked him in Constantine and Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure..... and the Rush, Rush video by Paula Abdul. Just kidding.
shareyou're an idiot and a bitch
Cliches are cliches for a reason, they are comforting
This is a few movies where he does a fairly good job as an actor. To me he was okay in the Matrix (the first one) as well. However, I always enjoy his acting when he does a "retard" character and red neck. he seems to do those chracters well without too much effort.
My life isn't any better than yours.
I think hes good at playing a broken and sad character like in Constantine.
He may be not John Constantine, and he may not cough well or have the best voice acting, but he delivered the depressed supernatural detective very good.
I did believe him and i took him serious. He was also quite more mature than in other movies ive seen with him.
And i also think he has charisma and hes more personable then many of the actors out there. And he also seems to be a person who tries his best and understands things, like when he was the only one who understood the Matrix script.
Of course hes no Depp or Hanks, Penn or those big names, but his style clicks in some movies.
Though i have to say he went on my nervs in the matrix sequels, but all of the actors escept maybe the frenchman and Agent Smith had very stupid lines to deliver.
So i do like him sometimes and i must defend him when actors like Vin Diesel are out there.
Im gonna say this...hes not good, but he aint bad. He had the perfect "look" for Neo...and IMO acted fine in the first one. The other 2 were very lackluster acting wise. He does act bad alot..but he also can act very well but still will get *beep*

He is excellent in that movie because he is not acting in that movie, he is playing himself.

"He is excellent in that movie because he is not acting in that movie, he is playing himself. "
Are you kidding? Keanu Reeves overracted throughout the whole movie....
i was flipping through cable, slightly inebriated at 3 a.m., when this movie came on. my first impression was that keanu was playing a strung out, recovering coke addict. it seems he attempted to make up for his lack of acting ability by twitching compulsively, and well, it made me nervous. although the film followed a very contrived plot line, it still had the potential to make a slight impact on a mildly intoxiacted college girl...and it failed miserably. even worse...the cubs and sosa had a cameo. lame. and another thing...why the hell would g-baby's mom request keanu to make a eulogy? he was his coach all of two months? lame. and finally...r. kelly as the ending credit song. yeah, you guessed it...lame. can we cool it with the bitches??
shareI typically believe that Keanu does about 75-80% of his gigs poorly. He is generally a pretty poor actor in big roles. He has pulled off a few good performances in big roles.
As for "Hardball" I cannot seem to decide if he did a mediocre job or a really really poor job.
His character was a gambling addict who is mixed up in some shady things and hasn't accomplished much in his life, and doesn't have anything going for him. He is looking for a big score to just keep his head above water constantly.
That said, he may have pulled the role off considering the annoying personal qualities that he had; he was jittery, restless, brief, twitchy, and all around not a pleasant guy.
But he didn't do a swell enough job to convince me that these nuances were "natural" enough to be a part of his character but instead something Keanu was purposely pushing. I say poor acting job, again.
He is not playing himself! If you look at interviews and the things he has said he is a very smart man who doesn't brag about anything. Him and Alex Winter studied surfers for their roles. Have you seen My Own Private Idaho and River's Edge? You can't deny that he has massive talent and appeal. His new movie The Lake House looks really good also.
shareI am supposing that you wrote that before you saw the lake house. The lake house is not a good movie. In fact it is garbage and the plot doesn't make any sense.
P.S. If you are a hot girl reading this two years in the future, lets please set a date for tomorrow in your time so I can meet you there.
Your just jealous tbots! Your probably waisting away in your dorm room or crappy apartment eating Ravioli out of a can!
shareIf you hate him so much, why are you watching his movies then?
share
The fact that Keanu is NOT like every other actor out there makes me watch his movies and enjoy his films. Movies would just suck if all the actors were Oscar winning performances everytime...
You laugh like an irresponsible foetusshare
ya i guess you have a point that would suck if i went to the movie theater and had to see good acting EVERY TIME

Go troll another board, tbots.
To quote Keanu in Hard Ball:
"What? Since you can't talk sh*t, you got nothing to say?"
nice quote i'm sure it was delivered with the eloquence that keanu is capable of.
"every man dies, not every man really lives" - william wallace
Well... it seems that all those directors and actors that worked with Keanu are a bunch of really miserable and crazy people :)
I think Keanu Reaves is a good actor but you know. To each his own.
shareIMHO, Keanu Reeves is never gonna get the Oscar nod he's hoping for. Doesn't make him a BAD actor. Hell, I wouldn't even call him sub-par. Maybe just on par. Whatevz.
"Man, that wife killer looks pretty *beep* up."
"Which one?"
WHATEVZ INDEED
"every man dies, not every man really lives" - william wallace
Well actually he said he doesn't want an Oscar, he just wants to carry on doing what he loves, and he does work hard, he spends months and months preparing for each role, and his personal life gets in the way, and its hard to get over as many tragedies as he has and still try to carry on like he does, constantly being followed by fans or papparazzi.
I just want to say well done to kirstone, you (unlike most of the people wasting their time insulting people who probably do a much better job than they ever could) spelt his name right! Normally its Keanu that gets spelled wrong, not Reeves, so PLEASE get facts right ad watch enough of his movies to have an opinion on! You can't base his acting on Hardball! His daughter had just died, at least try to imagine how hard it must be to do this film just after that with G-Baby's funeral.
People who go round saying things like this really annoy me, you don't know whats going on in their lives, you don't know what they have to go through, one bad comment can make someone tip over the edge, so think before you go 'actor bashing'.
I don't think Reeves is DeNiro but I really can't see anyone playing these roles better than him. Who would've been a better Neo? Who else could've done some of the scenes in this movie? I wasn't expecting to like Constantine but it was a solid movie that, yet again, couldn't have been played by anyone else other than Keanu. If he has all of you convinced that his on-screen persona is the same as off-screen when that is in fact not the case, I would say that must make him a pretty good actor.
shareI know that he's not a great actor (although played quite good in 1-2 really good films), but I like him for no good reason (-: You know, when you don't like someone for no apparent reason? I feel the opposite with KR for no apparent reason and knowing he's not an A class actor as others mentioned.
btw I'm a guy so it's not his looks (-:
