People need to lighten up and remember that everyone has a right to say whatever they want, if you can't take the heat, get the *beep* out.
There will never be anyone quite like Audrey Hepburn
Thank god someone finally mentioned Jarhead.
I guess the fact that it took forever to show up on this list shows how few people actually saw it or remember it.
That is the greatest anti-war film of all time.
None of those are anti war.

Peckinpah's Cross of Iron
Saving Private Ryan an anti-war movie? Right, with the American flag waving in the beginning and at the end of the film... No, then you better put your nose to Catch-22 or The dirty dozen, movies that are not so 'patriotic minded'.
And if you really want to see a film which shows how ugly WWII was, you don't want to see a film about the Western, but about the Eastern front offcourse: 'Come and see',from Klimov. Resembles Cross of Iron a bit, but contains much more horror (in a psychological point of view).
This offcourse, besides movies about Vietnam or the Middle East, but for some reason, I don't even want to start talking about that.

"Yeah, it isn't a half day, or anything like that."
No one mentioned No Man's Land http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0283509/.
Another good movie is Pretty Village, Pretty Flame http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0116860/.
Meanwhile I have to say that The Thin Red Line is a really good film to.
What about Gallipoli? It's been a long time since I've seen it, but I remember it being a really good movie. I just don't remember how anti-war it is.

The Bridge / Die Brücke (1959
http://imdb.com/title/tt0052654/
May I suggest a good and relatively ignored movie called Go Tell The Spartans, concerning the early American engagement as "advisors". Strong performances, with sympathy throughout. Also, I find that Coming Home is a film that remains with me as to the personal costs of combat.Hamburger Hill quite good. Ulzana's Raid with Lancaster was excellent on the Indian Wars dilemma, and the grandaddy rounds out my five, All Quiet on the Western Front.
share1. Apocalypse Now
2. The Thin Red Line
3. Platoon
4. Sunshine (as an anti war feature, but not as an actual war film, it does show the civilian side of both world wars and the communist uprising in Hungary however)
5. Full Metal Jacket
-=Quentin Tarantino is over-rated.=-
Saving Private Ryan definetly is NOT an anti-war film, not many WWII films are... i can only think of Catch 22 of the top of my head as one that is. Paths of Glory is prob the best anit-war film due to its accuracy. Apocalypse Now is a pheonominal film, unlike any other war film, but very unrealistic.
sharewow. nice to see all the *beep* war movies listed in the one thread (exept FMJ). Just watched tigerland and what a load of garbage. No wonder this hit straight to video pretty mutch everywhere.
