I'm genuinely surprised at how much people seem to dislike this movie

This is one of my all time favorite 'classic' holiday movies. It just shocks me (well not really since this is imdb after all..) to see people on here giving thousand word essays and rants about how much they hate HtGSC while over analyzing it in the process.

I've never fooled anyone. I've let people fool themselves.

Why are you surprised? It's terrible.

It's Dr. Seuss, genius. I'm surprised too. I get sick of hearing nitpicky crap like they make box office hit movies every week.

I have to agree, it's a fun, funny movie with AMAZING visuals, for what they spent making this movie and creating the world of Whoville, it was a wise investment, everything looked so AMAZING.

idk why people hate it so much--maybe Jim Carrey just isn't EVERYONE'S cup of tea lol but i for sure enjoyed this movie :D

... I dislike Christmas quite a bit, and Christmas movies especially, but this movie is actually kinda funny and is a totally fitting Jim Carrey performance. This movie is just another example of why it is a good idea that the Golden Globes, unlike the Oscars, have a "Comedy/Musical" category to honor comedic performances. The Grinch was was actually pretty good and funny, more than just "alright".

I gave it a 7/10 it is not the best movie out there but it is entertaining

I must become someone else. I must become something else.

Batfleck and Gal Gadot will Prevail

I am surprised too. There are alot of movies that are worse.

Personally if I have to watch that hideously annoying blonde kid and his red rifle ranger whatever bb gun one more time my boyfriend may no longer have a TV.

Too each their own but some of us like what others don't. Not sure why they can't just ignore it and move on.

Always be yourself. Unless you can be Batcatt, then always be Batcatt.

I'm also surprised. I thought it really captured the spirit of Christmas and it was real fun to watch. I loved it in 2000 when I was a kid, and I still enjoy it at the age of 27! Well I kinda pretend I'm still a kid when I watch it. It puts me in the festive mood. I always found it really funny and entertaining. It should be rated much higher.

I think they hate it because they've read the book and know the Grinch isn't suppose to be retarded.

Jim Carey's version of The Grinch is what brought most of the humor to the movie though. Without it the film would have been a little too mundane and sappy. Sure, he could have toned it down maybe just a notch or two, but for translating the book into a film I think Carey improved certain aspects that wouldn't have otherwise worked when turning a 20 page book into a 90+ minute movie.

I like this movie. My one complaint is how blindly the Who followed the Mayor, up until the last half-hour of the movie. What a bunch of sheep!
