Now that American Beauty is just a movie about the timeline where Kevin Spacey doesn't go full pedo. Frankly i thought this movie aged badly even before finding out spacey like to tickle little boys in the no no parts. It was just a bunch of pretentious drivel.
shareSpacey's personal life has no bearing on this movie's legacy in the American film pantheon.
I will say though, that this type of drama captures an outdated aspect of American culture that will never come back. As we currently live in a more mentally polarized society that has become both emboldened and nihilistic thanks to global mass media technologies and a hyperactive economic culture driven by FOMO and outright selfishness, the characters from this story feel more maudlin than tragic.
