When I was 12 I watched a part of this movie and it was really weird and I didn't like it... But then I watched the movie again when I was 14 and it has been one of my favorite movies ever since! (I am 16 now)..

14 maybe, but it depends on the movie. Something like "Saving Private Ryan" or "The Passion of the Christ" would be appropriate, but not "American Beauty."

I wouldnt bother showing this to a 12 year old. The themes will go way over their head and they will probably think its a shit movie.
As to whether its appropriate for a 12 year old? How long is a piece of string? Depends on the string.
