Get Real vs. Beautiful Thing

I'm a straight girl but I really love gay romance movies (I dunno) and this one is the best I've ever seen (as well as Maurice - Hugh Grant is so dreamy in that movie!).

I watched another gay romance/coming out movie today called Get Real 'cause some people told me if I liked Beautiful Thing I'd really love Get Real, which has similar themes, and well, I didn't! It has some good acting (and some horrible acting!) but it has none of the charm and simple beauty of Beautiful Thing. I've seen Beautiful Thing over and over again but I could barely make it through Get Real!

For those who have seen both, which do you prefer!

Get Real is a better film than Beautiful Thing but most people disagree with me.

i honestly preffered get real more, i think the story was better told in Get Real and the music etc enhanced the story more. but i still liked beautiful thing just not as much as get real.

Get Real was far and away the better film. Beautiful Thing is too contrived and phony, if two gay kids danced in the parking lot in broad daylight as they did in BT they would have had their heads kicked in back in day the film takes place. It's just too fake. Nice film, but not in the same league as Get Real -- and the soundtrack in Get Real is just superb.

Gee, I like Get Real a lot more than Beautiful Thing (which I also like).
Get Real has a few scenes that just don't work for me, such as the drawn
out bedroom confession scene. But, on the other hand, Get Real has many
scenes that are a lot better than anything in Beautiful Thing. Like, most scenes
in the movie.

I like Get Real a lot better than Beautiful Thing. I could not really get into BT at all. Something about it didnt pop out to me. Maybe Ill rent it again.
