Anyone see this in theaters?

This was my first "horror movie" that I saw in theaters. I was nine years old when it came out, and was OBSESSED with the Washington Irving story. I was a super precocious kid and my dad thought I could handle the movie, which I did just fine with. I remember the popcorn bag had the poster of the tree with the headless horseman printed on it. I saved that stupid paper bag and kept it for years. Lots of fond memories for me around this movie.

I think I saw it 3 times at the cinema, I was 12 and it was the first horror film I saw in theaters 

save that bag in a safe place; it might be a collector's item and valuable someday.

I was 13 when it came out and did not see it in a theater. I supposed that's likely because my parents did not like horror movies, and my mom definitely would have been scared, but I had definitely gone to R rated movies by myself at that point, and we were a family full of Burton fans. And it was also a special story to me, as it was probably the first piece of classic literature I'd ever read.

To this day it's still one of the movies I would most like to see projected on film.

Yeah, I saw that scene where he lobs his iPhone at that girl

We are about the same age, and for whatever reason I didn't see it until it came to video. It's a shame, but I did finally get to see it projected on 35mm a couple of weeks ago. It was a great experience. It looked every bit as rich and lush as I'd hoped. One of the best looking movies ever made.

Guess I was a little older than most of the posters here, but I saw it in the theater. Great atmosphere that's for sure. I was around 23 when it came out. One of my favorite Depp films, along with From Hell and the Secret Window. The Ninth Gate is my absolute favorite though.

Conquer your fear, and I promise you, you will conquer death.

My top five Depp movies all involve pirates.
