I know this film is an 18 in the UK and from what i have read about it there is quite a bit of violence in the film but i was just wondering is the film really as scary as its made out to be. I'm not sure whether to get it as i'm not that keen on really scary movies but i love Anime films.

Not scary, but it has a few suspensful scenes. I don't think the nudity or violence was excessive. The eye scene caught me a tad off guard.

It all depends on the individual.
I found the film scary myself-- not really the graphic violence, but the blurred edge between reality and illusion, as well as the stalking elements. But once again, everyone reacts differently to horror movies. Some people find The Exorcist or Hereditary terrifying, and I got through both just fine.
I've seen Perfect Blue a few times, and it quite unsettling and CREEPY, above all. You never know what's going to happen next.
