Why did the bartender help her?

Towards the end he helps her escape after she finishes her meal. They were not acquainted, why did he do so?

reply

Probably because he assumed she was a victim of domestic violence or something... That is a very common reason women kill their husbands, after all.

But did he know all that while she was eating there? I liked the movie but this scene was completely unnecessary.

reply

Because he liked her, and felt inclined to help her out. The bulletin says she’s from Seattle and broke parole at work detention. He wanted to let her know they were looking for her and to be safe and gave her an umbrella. He probably didn’t think of her as being that big of a threat. You know, this is not the biggest deal in this movie. It’s a really subtle thing. I can’t even imagine asking this. He gave her a pass based on her appearance and that she looked genuine eating something at the bar where everyone else is drinking and getting drunk in the middle of Bourbon Street and probably hopes that she would sort it out and being taken away in cuffs would be humiliating and problematic for her.

reply

Because she's smoking hot? I would too.

Some people don't like the authorities - maybe he was one of them.
