How did Junhu win?

I must be stupid but I just cant understand how Junha won the last game.

They were alla even before the last hole. Then the other two needed two strokes each to reach the green and then two strokes each to get the ball int the hole.

Junhu on the other hand had one stroke, then moved the ball and had a penalty for moving the ball and then needed one stroke and one put to hole the ball.

In my way of counting they all should have been equal after the last hole.

The only explanation is that Junhu didnt have to pay one stroke for moving the ball which is strange since he did move the ball and as I understood they all agreed that in the end that he did move the ball.

Stupid ending for a stupid movie. Blah.

It's been a while since I saw the movie, so forgive me if I'm mistaken. I didn't think that Junhu won, I thought that all three players ended tied at the end of the tournament. Again, I could be wrong, it's been a while.

He didn't win they all tied. Did you even pay attention to the end?

reply

That's kinda the clue..

He didn't win. They tied.

YOU ARE RIGHT. YOU MUST BE STUPID.

reply

I agree, you're really stupid!

Junhu did win.

The fact that the scores were all tied was a well known factual error in the movie

As quoted from Adele (Theron) after Junah (Damon) makes the putt, "Rannulph Junah from Savannah, Georgia, tied Mr. Bobby Jones and Mr. Walter Hagen in the greatest golf match the world has ever seen!"

There's absolutely no mention or implication of anyone winning - just the possible audience participation from the jubilation of the spectators.

Junah did not win, but he did heroically tie.

Wow. Nerds on the internet are so quick to call people stupid.

What a joke. =)

I agree. Nothing more shameful than throwng child-level "criticisms" at complete strangers on an internet message board. I pity your parents; I bet they're cleaning out their basement in preparation for you to move in. lol.

Thanks for that quote from Adele, because I couldn't understand that horrific yell of hers no matter how hard I tried. That clears up the end for me as well. :D

The first time I watched it I thought he won because Charlize Theron says tied kind of low, plus the subtitles on the Norwegian DVD says that Junuh won (Norwegian subtitles are by the way probably the worst in the world).

I really liked the movie. I think Matt Damon doesn't play golf cause his swing looked akward too me. But, was it me or did anyone think Bagger was in Junah's head up until he started playing good??? I dunno. Its funny how in golf if you just let go and "stop thinkin with out falling asleep", you really do play so much better.....

I swear, it's like I'm playin' cards with my brother's kids. You nerve wrackin' son's a bitches.

Your way of counting is fine indeed!

But does the movie pretend he won? Certainly not. He has tied the other players, that's all. And so it says clearly in the movie...

Now, morally, he has won because he called that penalty on himself.

Even though Matt Damon looks like a lousy golfer to me, this movie is great...
