is it possible to get that famous after just 2 games?
i really doubt it would be possible to get your own music video, no matter how well you played in the 2 games

shareI like to be kind and think this was Oliver Stone's highlighting of the ridiculousness of instant fame in the contemporary sports world... one or two good games and you're a superstar... it's unreal, and yet Stone takes the ridiculousness to its logical conclusion.
....Whoa! Good Bible.
It can happen... Pretty much did to Matt Cassel this year. Before Brady was hurt, be was pretty much an unknown to most, but then after playin a couple good games and he's being anointed king of new england. Kind of the same thing that happened to Brady come to think of it...
f-ck you very much, but thanks for thinking of me
cassell didnt get famous at all, he didnt get mag covers, a commercial, or become popular in the least. he kept the seat warm and got a fat contract, now hes back in the trash can
shareKurt Freakin Warner. after about two games in that offense, everyone's mouth hit the floor.

That sounds dead-on, Fluke! Thanks for the comparison
shareNot sure its a 'real' music video anyway. Looks like hes advertising M-trx or whatever that energy drink is. There is a promotion involving Beaman and Mtrx as we see him on the side of a bus and then d'amato is watching that sports show and then it cuts away to beaman on TV suggesting it is just an advert.
shareI don't know hype can be a huge thing look at the second rate bottom feeding WR who failed at RB named Reggie Bush he has made quite a lot of money and fame for a man with no talent. Yet idiots in New Orleans are still thinking he is a golden boy. The media creates people who don't deserve it all the time, the other one seems to be "blows the big games" Romo.
If you love Jesus Christ and are 100% proud of it copy this and make it your signature

well some athletes get hyped as the 'next one' and never reach their full potential. Bush and Young were hyped as the 'next ones' but will likely never be elites at their positions yet far more players make far less.
But in Beamens case, he was never hyped and came out of nowhere. Probably too soon. I mean hell AJ Feely was a third string QB thrust into a starting role and went 4-1 and didnt get quite that publicity.

god are u people off.
comparing him to reggie bush and vince young?????? yea they really came out of nowhere. oh wait, heisman trophies and national championships and top 5 picks.
willie beamen was a 7th round pick who won two regular season games.
Tony romo was a backup QB that had been hyped for a couple years and he played 8 quality games his first season, not 2.
Tom Brady got famous cuz he took over for bledsoe and won a SB, not two regular season games, and then he continued to be great.
Brady Quinn!!! He played for notre dame and was a first round pick.
Sorry, but two good games will not get you famous and into commercials.

Tony Romo
It's rare but there are definitely some cases of overnight fame in football. Specifically QB's
tony romo was second string (not third like willie) and was the heir apparent for more than a couple years. The cowboys were often raving about how good he was and everyone knew about him before he ever took the field. So basically, that was a completely different situation.
shareSure it's legit. How do we know Foxx's character was a national standout in college... which laid the groundwork for his fame? I got the impression that Beamen was hooked up with endorsements before he started any game.
There are tons of second string players in football that have endorsements of some kind. And that rap video was actually a commercial for Met-rx, one of Beamen's sponsors.
how do we know he wasnt a standout in college??? because willie told us he wasnt. he had a coach that switched him to cornerback and he blew out his shoulder. and when he went into his first game in the pros, the announcers made it sound like no one had ever heard of him.
Name me a 6th round draft pick that has never gotten above second string that has an national endorsement deal. (we arent talking about an endorsement for Ray's used cars around the corner)

According to Beamen, he was a high talent, took a suit he thought was for him but wasn't and dropped six rounds in the draft because of it. Since he's stated to be a 7th round pick, if Beamen is telling the truth, he was originally projected to be a 1st round draft choice but got a bad rap. This is somewhat logical as we can tell he has impressive skills especially given the fact that he doesn't play and likely doesn't practice hard (he was clearly paying no attention to the first game)
Now Crozier (Aaron eckharts character) does indicate he's taken a few snaps. It doesn't seem like he'd played for Miami yet prior to the film but he's been a journeyman. Beamen also says his career is half over so it's implied he's been in the league for some time riding the bench. Usually these career backups only last if they do have impressive skills.

yeah the eye scene is over the top, it would have been more realistic for beamens stardom to be 5 games or so. I doubt the sharks are the equivalent to the cowboys; it's stated attendance is down, Dallas is always a sell out.

It would be a more accurate comparison to Vick with the Eagles, although there was hype when Vick got to Philly, it had settled down at the start of the 2010 season. However when he took over in the Green Bay game his "Stardom" rocketed back up but not to the ridiculousness of Beaman.
No way possible a has-been or nobody would have become as famous as Beaman did.
Wayne Enterprises buys and sells companies like Stark Industries
Tebow

"Tebow "
Brilliant! I was thinking that Beaman's quick stardom could never happen, until I saw your post and was reminded of the "Tebow Train." (which I am on) Although Tebow did have quite a bit of fame from college and was shooting commercials before he ever even took an NFL snap, his stardom went through the roof after just one game. Very similar situation
Here I am, stuck in the middle with you.
Tim Tebow got famous very quickly. But he was already famous when he entered the NFL. Willie Beamon was a relative unknown. Starting quarterbacks can get famous in a hurry if they win. Tom Brady got famous in a hurry when he replaced Drew Bledsoe.
shareYeah this day and age especially it doesn't take long to get famous. Here are a list of athletes that hot shotted quickly once they got a chance to show there talents.
1. Kurt Warner
2. Tom Brady
3. Jose Bautista
4. Jeremy Lin
