Haha.
Did anyone else just crack up when Costner spoke this line in his
"Boston"-accent. I know I sure as hell did!
Apart from Costners accent, it's pretty darn good movie, especially if you're interested in the Cuban Missile Crisis, like me.
Very good performances by Bruce Greenwood and Steven Culp. (best not to mention Kevin Costner, though he wasn't bad, apart from his accent ofcourse!)

Bruce Greenwood, there hasn't been a better JFK since Martin Sheen in "Kennedy"
and Steven Culp, there hasn't been a better RFK since..., well euhm, since Martin Sheen in "The Missiles of October"!

Perhaps Martin Sheen, will one day play Teddy, who knows?
Hell, he might even go Tootsie and play Jackie. I'd pay a lot of money to see that!

Haha, i agree. The report caaard line gets me every time.

Bruce Greenwood is frickin' brilliant as Kennedy. He plays an excellent president (remember National Treasure II as well).

Steven Culp could literally be RFK. They look identical.

This movie was very underrated from the beginning. If you are into US historical conflicts, this is a must view.

I totally agree on Bruce Greenwood's brilliant portrayal of JFK and Steven Culp's amazing resemblance to RFK, but it took me a long time to get past Kevin Costner's exaggerated Boston accent. His performance was good, but the accent sounded like a parody.

I agree with you about Bruce Greenwood and Steven Culp-they were quite brilliant as JFK and RFK. I really didn't think Costner was that bad as O'Donnell but the role should have been played by a lesser known actor since the movie then could have been a nice ensemble piece like 'Missiles of October'.

Accent wise, Culp's was the best, by far. Greenwood's wasn't bad, but Costner's was just painful. There were times when he sounded like a bad Boston parody, or Colonel Sanders.

"Out in the yaaaahd, not to faaaah from the caaaah"....oh wait that was Roy Scheider mocking Mass. accents in Jaws! Maybe he was mocking the future performance of said Mr. Costner?

Costner was awful... shame from such a capable actor. Not sure what was worse, Costner's accent in Thirteen Days or Keanu Reeves' attempt at an English one in Dracula.

Costner is great in this movie- The subject matter is extremely serious and deals with a potential nuclear holocaust- Costner provides frequent comic relief with his idiotic accent, which lightens the mood considerably and makes the movie flow better.

Costner should use this accent at parties- he would be a big hit and he would be a lot more interesting than he is in real life

Yes definitely. I cracked up when I first heard him.

He would have been fine, though, without that accent. They should have just had him talk normally. And Greenwood and Culp were excellent.

The one that really cracks me up, and always has done, is the immortal "We're lahting up nuclee wehpons lak it's ow own prayevut Foawth of July!"

That and "you forget how to open a caah doorah?" get me every time.
Costner's performance was actually pretty good, but that god-awful accent ruined a lot of dramatic moments. I cracked up at him calling the guy on the phone a "piece of sh-t" at the beginning. Seemed like every time he got mad his accent got more pronounced, and thus funnier.

Rarely is there such a consensus on someone screwing up in a movie.

There's just no way around it though, is there. And no one from Boston's going to step in, ha.

Good acting. Distracting accent.
