I hated that Sue got killed

It was so great seeing Sue again and what shes been up to with her life, it was good to know that she didn't end up spending her whole life in a psych ward. And seeing Amy Irving reprise her role after so long was great. But i just hated that she was killed, she was always just trying to help other people she didn't deserve to die. When she died my mouth dropped and i felt somewhat heartbroken over it.

Watching the original movie so many times over the years and then seeing Sue die, it was a little shocking.

And i hated the way that she died, she just showed up at the party and got a spear through the head and was forgotten about instantly as if she was some random throwaway character. She was the sole survivor of the first movie and they kill her off in such a random cheap way as if shes a random party goer.

Thats what i love about these high school girls, i get older they stay the same age.

I actually liked that she got killed (especially so suddenly), because I was not expecting it to happen.

She honestly shouldn't have been in the movie, she added nothing, had no purpose (besides dying for cheap shock value), and Amy Irving totally phoned it in

I thought it was sad as well. I personally expected her to live because not only was she in the first movie so fans had that attachment to her, but she was one of the "good ones." It seemed to me like she was killed off for the shock value. It reminded me of Nancy's death in Nightmare on Elm Street 3.

I wasn't necessarily upset with them killing off her character per se, and actually think the 'shock' could've been effective if it had been handled better.

I agree about it feeling like an afterthought and more of a way to dispose of a less significant person.

It would have been interesting to see her actually interact at the party and with Rachel in full blown Carrie mode.

Feels really cheap the way it is, especially when the rest of the time her character is developed surprisingly well.

Sue's death doesn't really bother me.. she didn't really offer much in the plot besides being an attempted helper to Rachel. But honestly she was so bad at her job she didn't do much of anything do so lmao. That scene where she just flat out insults Rachel casually about her childhood is groan worthy, like who talks like that to anyone? Then she started pestering her and running Rachel away.. so dumb.

She did try once she figured out her history but it was too late by that point and Rachel refused her help, if she had been nicer to her I see it maybe helping. Sue did everything to herself, they wrote her not so well in hindsight.

I too wonder if there was some scenes cut out, sadly Shout only gave us 3 with commentary that we can't even turn off so I doubt we will ever see the full movie.

reply

Yeah, I really hate it. All for trying to help. If she had survived, perhaps Rachel would have as well. She wouldn't have been alone.
