This music is off, isn't it?

Why the arabic influence? Was Peter Stormare supposed to look like an Arab? What's the link?

yes movie is perfect but musics are very terrible

No, actually it was right on spot. I think the music was giving a nod to the Heart of Darkness and its ideas of entering foreign territory, the devil, and the main character's bargain.

Looks like people are split down the middle.

Add me to column A: "I hated the music, it didn't fit the rest of the film"

They could have picked other spooky music to build the mood. What they did pick took away from the mood, in my opinion.

The music was the part of the film IMO. It fit perfectly from the point when Cage's character comes to Hollywood, when he's in the titty bar etc. It gave the film an original touch, something which is much needed in these kinds of thrillers where the score is way too conventional and sounds exactly the same all the time.

it wasn't a standard arabic music, it was north african folk music, possibly related to berber (where the wrongly used barbarian term came from.) i liked it, but i hated when he went back to a very loud "western" music that didn't fit, in one scene. "fifth element" used some rai music, north african arab berber music, and it was great to set for the weird alien mood, possibly it was an inspiration.

The music was so annoying and completely wrong for this. WTF was up with the Arabic singing stuff.

You have no idea what you're talking about. The music is perfectly suited for this film. In fact the music has a variety of genres that fit well into each scene. It's unfortunate some people don't appreciate good scores for certain genres.

There were a couple of moments during the film where I thought the music was off.
