Does anyone else have this problem?
I think this movie is funny, witty & very creative (though woul love to read the comics for comparison) but everyone I know who has seen it has been well... terribly strident in there dislike

i thought the same thing. i remember seeing it in theatres and loved it. i thought that it was spot on with all the silliness of superhero movies, i was amazed at how many famous people are in it. i mean, ricky jay and tom waits. it was visually appealing. it was just stupid enough to be good.
the whole idea of wannabes becoming the saviours of a city is my favorite theme.
i think it fits perfectly with movies like buckaroo banzai and big trouble in little china type of over-the-top craziness.
i watched it the other day and still liked it

I love this film. I think it is a classic. I was surprised to read on Wikipedia that it was a commercial and critical flop.
