The end completely ruined it for me.

I was watching this on IFC today and I loved it up until the last 10 minutes. Since when is a 3-legged dog and people in wheelchairs with no legs falling over and crawling on the ground funny? I didn't mind the rest of the film, but that was just sick.

I think this ending is one of the most memorables of all time! And of course the point is not laughting at disabled people.

That's what I love about this movie - it gets to everyone's personal tabboos. The OP can handle all the murder and the betrayal, but eveyone ending up handicapped is too much. God, I love this movie.

As much as I like this movie, it would be 10 times more disturbing, if it were played more straight. As good as the movie is, the comedy dilutes it.

That final scene was totally over the top. But I had seen a three-legged dog a few days previously. In fact I've seen several over the years.

First off laughing at misfortune be it slapstick or a comdedy of errors is the very essense of comedy, it demonstrates the human ability to laugh at themeselves. The end scene was intended as a comeuppence for these stupid people who deserved what they got.
To exclude certain vunerable groups from funny situations is patronising and ultimately harmful to society.

They weren't all as malevolent as Boyd, but they were deeply flawed & weak & waaaayyy too willing to go along with Boyd.
I found that incredibly unrealistic.
