What if Anakin surrendered?
When Obi-Wan says “It’s over, Anakin! I have the high ground,” if Anakin had not jumped, what were his options? Would he simply have to surrender or could he move farther along the lava flow to escape?

shareI can see that working, he just pushes Obi-Wan and walks away.
Something like "you won the battle but not the war"
Anakin had no choice. The OT films had him in his Vader suit with the breathing aids. Had he surrendered, how would you explain the appearance of Darth Vader beginning in episode 4?
sharePure chance. As he is getting off the droid he trips and falls into some lava.
shareI guess that could have worked
shareThere was way too much lava about in that finale.
It's weird because we always knew back probably before even ROTJ that Anakin and Obi-Wan were supposed to have squared off by a volcano.
What we didn't know was that CGI would turn that into an entire lava planet and that stupid bit were they're both on tiny flying droids, balancing as they bomb along at full speed!
Ah well. What might have been...
Some things are better left to the imagination.
shareRealistically, if he did surrender, based on how the Jedi acted throughout the three films, they'd have returned to Jedi HQ and the incident would soon be forgotten. Obi-Wan would tell Yoda about it, Yoda would say "hmmm" and then promptly forget all about it, and they'd all go about their business as if nothing strange had happened.
shareAnakin converted to the dark side and even got a title as Sith. This would be for sure a bigger deal as just talking. But the Jedi failed of course because of their behavior
shareWhat if you replaced the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air song lyrics with Yoda, Banthas and Tattoine in the relevant places?
