Pleasantville = liberal?

Check out this blog post. Is Pleasantville the most liberal movie ever?

This thread is a great example why so many people just stay away from politics altogether. Everyone does or should have their own unique set of beliefs. I wouldn't want to associate with or even know anyone that subscribes fully to any political party. How can anyone say "I completely agree with everything this party stands for/represents"? It just seems utterly ridiculous to me. None of you get along at all or are ever willing to see things from the others point of view. You just take sides and stick to them and don't even begin to want to meet half way on anything. Every political debate is exactly the same. Doesn't it ever get tiring?

Pleasantville is what most conservatives want reality to be. No brown, yellow or black people. No gays. No feminism. Women knew their place. Subservient to hubby, basically chained to the kitchen and the bedroom. No Rights to vote or equal pay or higher education. As much derision as today's conservative women give to liberalism they would have a fit if they had to live in a real version of Pleasantville.

Very true.

Always look for the positive in every situation.

Utter nonsence. What about Michael Moore's movies, which actually has an agenda? I don't understand why everything has to be so political these days, or about politics. Racism and sexism was rife in those days, all this film does is just expose it. Yes it's progressive because it chooses to take those characters out of it and paint them in colour. It's liberal in that respect, but look at how crap life was unless you were white and male! I just wonder if anyone actually watches this who calls themselves a conservative and would rather everything was far better off when everything was in black and white! I'm sure there are some out there! Morons.

For a long time, I thought that the turning colored signified feeling emotion. But David and Jennifer felt emotion right from the start. And yet, they were two of the last to turn. David turned to colored when he socked the guy that was molesting his 'mother'. He had never used physical violence before. So turning colored signifies changing. Actually, the ending song says "Nothings going to change my world"

Politically, the question "Pleasantville = liberal?" refers to the Reform Party and Conservative Party. Reform is defined as change (re-form), and conservative as no change, The movie did say you can't stop change. So, I think that by these definitions, Pleasantville is a liberal movie. (I'm not assigning conservative and reform to any political party, but you can draw your own conclusions about this)

This film is certainly disgusting liberal propaganda which promotes the evil message that morality is bad and evil is good.
