I couldn't sympathize with Paltrow's character at all in this movie.

She was a whore. I'm not saying that she deserved to die, au contraire, but I was actually rooting for the husband because she was as big as a douche and liar as he was.

Also Douglas' performance was great, but he's just great at playing unethical businessmen who would do anything to reach their desired end.

I hate the idea of infidelity. That said, I could never root for a human being to die just because of one affair. As far as her being a liar, sure. But she was planning to tell him the truth, even though it would cost her an expensive divorce. It's not like she was planning to kill him to get him out of the way. She was human, he was a sociopath.

reply

Technically, sociopaths are humans.

She killed two people in the end makes her a stone cold killer. That is why the police guy said to her in the end "God be with you". I can imagine she would have stood trial for murder but with her $$$ would walk free

She killed both people in self-defense. How does that make her a "stone cold killer?" Are we not allowed to defend ourselves twice?

reply

her performance sucks give this role to someone like michelle pieffer and you will see the difference , while douglas rocks , he is so good at being bad

reply

Maybe because that is close to his true character. He is a playboy and was known as one of Heidi Fleiss's best clients.
