Wouldn't he still be arrested for wrongful imprisonment of all the hostages? Just because you didn't kill your partner doesn't your off for taking hostages. He didn't kill his partner, but he did take hostages and he should be arrested for it.

Of course he would but it would be better then life in prison or the death penalty wouldn't it? He is getting the better deal proving he wasn't involved with Nate's death or the trust fund theft.

He might still have to face some legal charges, but the ending is meant to show that his unit believed in his innocence, and they would not be arresting him.
