Been over 15 years since I last saw this
.... Del's execution is still shocking.
Great film, and true to the book.
9/10.

The execution of Del is disturbingly sadistic and gruesome.
Good film, but I never bought the scene where the guards bring a prisoner to the wardens house and he just lets this enormous prisoner, a child murderer on paper, handle his sick wife. The guards are never seen persuading him of how and why they think he can cure her.
Yeah I can see that. But Hal must have trusted these men, especially Paul, without question. He knew his wife was going to die an awful death, maybe he just thought that anything is worth a try, even if he doesn't believe what he sees.
shareWith good writing they could have sold that to me. The film as is doesn’t, which is a shame because otherwise it’s very good.
shareAlso, if that’s the case then why not just tell the warden ‘you want your wife to live? Bring her to John Coffey, he performs healing miracles, he cured my bladder infection. What have you got to lose?’
Smuggling Coffey out felt too much like a forced Movie Moment.
Brown-skinned characters in King flicks didn't start surving until The Dark Tower. Pity no one saw it
