Strategies to survive

Why not swim alongside a lifeboat long enough for them to feel sorry for you and take you onboard?

reply

Because in water that cold, you die of hypothermia in a few minutes.

Any other questions?

reply

All the life boats had already launched long before the ship broke in half and eventually became completely submerged. They would have been way to far away for you catch up too before you froze to death.

And you're counting a bunch of rich old ladies, who are already cranky from being out in the middle of the ocean on a cold night, to risk capsizing their life boat just to save you???!!!

A real strategy would be to stay OUT of the water of long as possible. Like Jack and Kate, by going to the stern, and when that part went vertical, hang on to the back railing.

Bust into the cabins of the first class folks, put on their clothes then go up on deck acting all snooty and entitled to a place in the lifeboats

That would probably be the safest exit strategy if someone fell into a time warp bubble and found themselves on board knowing what they know now.

Hmm.. sounds like a sequel.

how about get on the iceberg? :)

reply

Not sure exactly, but by the time the Titanic could be stopped, it was probably a mile or more away from the berg.

reply

Ice is colder than water. And you'd be soaking wet in freezing water by the time you reached it.

Force the radio operator to contact the California, which was a few miles away.

reply

The California's operator had turned off his system for the night.
