The fictional romance plot was absolute crap, as was the made up shit presented as fact. The real facts and historical people are the most interesting parts of the movie.

A very intelligent and sensible adult friend of mine LOVES this film. The central relationship between the characters reminds her of the days she defied her family to run off with the man who didn't seem good for her (they're still married and in love), and she's a history buff who adores the painstaking recreation of the luxury liner. Ask her about the film and she'll start by talking about the romance and end up with the dinner plates!

I say that just so you know that there are people on this Earth who like it for reasons other than the sinking.
