Is it just me, or has this movie been completley ruined by Howard and his wife divorcing? I tried watching it yesterday for the 1st time since that happened, and it all rings hollow now, and kinda sad. Most of the movie is this great love story between he and his wife, and thats over, and he remarried a model.

Not really. I've only been checking out Stern's work for the last year or so and knew he was divorced before I saw his movie. To me, it's a product of that time in his life, and whatever happened afterwards is inconsiqeutial to the film. Sure, in reality, their break-up does somewhat devoid the film of it's message a little, but that doesn't change the movie itself. I still enjoyed it, and knew it was strictly from Howard's point of view so the film should not be taken too seriously anyway.
