so why did Tommy Lee Jones leave his wife?

But why did he leave her in the first place? Will Smith made the choice for the career. Why did Jones' character do it? He obviously misses her we can see from that scene where he uses the satellite to view her.

The woman was never married to K. Why wasn't she credited, her name was Elizabeth????

I think she wasn't originally involved with K, but the whole situation was fabricated by MIB so he would have something to go back to after "retiring."
