Really? that's what you people notice and care about? what century do we live in?
shareI take it you are not from Boston.......
shareIf they didn't swear, it would of come off not realistic at all.
sharePeople who use the word a lot, such as Scorscese or however the f you spell his name, are just attention seekers who grew up thinking it's cool. In reality, it just makes people seem dumb and douchey when they overuse it. It's to cover up inability to write something good.
shareYeah... I do like this movie, but there was no need for that much crude language. And yes, I know that they were trying to portrait working class youth from this tough urban environment. So I guess that one f word or two could have been appropriate. But it became overkill.
Intelligence and purity.
No, it really wasn't overkill at all. Go spend a few days in South Boston. That's how they talk. If you have delicate sensibilities, I can understand the language might be a bit jarring. But it's true to the region. Watch The Departed, Ray Donovan, or The Town. What you saw in Good Will Hunting was an accurate portrayal of the South Boston vernacular.
Never for the sake of peace and quiet deny your convictions-Dag Hammarskjold
That's how people talk. The cursing actually made the dialogue seem more real and grounded as opposed to it being a script.
My friends and I all use the F word and curse a ton and we aren't even poor working class kids from Southie, just suburban kids from So-Cal.
I'm not offended by swearing, but am annoyed when it's used gratuitously. I thought it was very appropriate in Good Will Hunting. It would have been more weird if they hadn't been swearing - it was realistic to their characters, their class-level, their lives, where they lived, etc...
share"they" must of paid alot of FN $ to "win"

I can't agree with you more. The language, profane language, was completely unnecessary. People don't talk that way in everyday life. I gave it a nine because of the every sentence use of profanity. Otherwise a ten. It also limits the age of people able to watch.
