I actually thought he would. And when he dropped the gun and started walking towards the edge I was like...dude..?

I think it would have been a good ending if after he's jumped, and had the reunion the camera fades out and opens to reveal him dead,splattered on the street
continuing the sense of mystery but suggesting he jumped to his death and the reunion was in his mind.
The gun he had wasn't real, remember? He shot Conrad with it. They wouldn't have been like ""S$#%...he was supposed to jump." They would have pushed him off the ledge. Near the end, the actor told him something like, "If you didn't jump, I was supposed to push you."

I get it but food for thought: Shooting yourself in the head, even with a blank at point blank range would almost definitely be fatal.

Wow, I never realized blanks were fatal at point blank range, I had to look it up, that's crazy. I never felt like they were something that was dangerous or needed to be kept from kids or anything.
shareThey obviously didn't want him walking around with a real gun in the emotional state he was in, even with blanks. They had replaced his real gun with a prop gun, which looked like his real gun but could only make the sound and flash of a real gun and couldn't actually fire bullets.
