What if in the end, he just pulled out a gun and shot himself?

They all would have been like "S$#%...he was supposed to jump."

And Penn would have probably complained to management until his money was refunded. I would have liked that ending.

I actually thought he would. And when he dropped the gun and started walking towards the edge I was like...dude..?

Do you think they had a really strong mini-net at the end of the gun so that if he did try to shoot himself, it would block the bullet? And how were all the people going to rush to the roof with the cake?

reply

Definitely. They probably would have pushed him off the roof. How else do you surprise someone on their birthday?

I think it would have been a good ending if after he's jumped, and had the reunion the camera fades out and opens to reveal him dead, splattered on the street
continuing the sense of mystery but suggesting he jumped to his death and the reunion was in his mind.

The gun he had wasn't real, remember? He shot Conrad with it. They wouldn't have been like ""S$#%...he was supposed to jump." They would have pushed him off the ledge. Near the end, the actor told him something like, "If you didn't jump, I was supposed to push you."

I think trying to explain this movie to people is useless.
It's either you get it or you don't and these people and a lot of them on these boards just don't.

reply

I get it but food for thought: Shooting yourself in the head, even with a blank at point blank range would almost definitely be fatal.

I don't love her.. She kicked me in the face!!

reply

Wow, I never realized blanks were fatal at point blank range, I had to look it up, that's crazy. I never felt like they were something that was dangerous or needed to be kept from kids or anything.

reply

They obviously didn't want him walking around with a real gun in the emotional state he was in, even with blanks. They had replaced his real gun with a prop gun, which looked like his real gun but could only make the sound and flash of a real gun and couldn't actually fire bullets.

Another gun?
