So Houston and NSA tried to interpret it
And suddenly D.J. is on board, it's cool guys, i know. Sounds like "Liberate Me" aka "Save Me".
No wonder this movie has like 30% score in Metacritic:D

Didn't the crew of the Louis and Clark run the message through a few filters to clean it up?
shareJust watching it now. It's too ridiculous for words. Sam Neill says "Houston has passed the recording through several filters and isolated what appears to be a human voice."
But they obviously never listened to it. It takes Jason Isaacs to tell them that it's Latin!

It's rubbish. I enjoyed the atmosphere of the first hour in spite of the b-film dialogue as part of it's popcorn nature. But the last half-hour makes you feel like a dolt for having sat through this stinker in it's entirety. Bait and switch.
shareD.J is more intelligent than the NASA scientists
shareYes, hard to believe they didn't have some experts listen to it who would've realized its latin.
