Almost a comedy.

This movie is hilarious on so many levels it is a wonder to me...

Every time I watch it, I can't help but think it was meant to be taken with a much lighter heart than the audience saw it as.

Likely due to the ham fisted and annoying marriage sub plot- which is never engaging and barely fits the tone of the rest of the movie.

There are moments in watching it, where I can not help but feel like I am watching a mob epi of Seinfeld.

Definitely not "almost a comedy", but there are two hilarious scenes: the entire air conditioner prank scene in the motel room and the old lady bitching about the lion taking a dump on the sidewalk.

Goodfella's tends to be quite comedic as well. I think it is something about the way Gangsters behave in these films. That said I thought the Russian roulette scenes in the Deer Hunter were funny rather than serious and dramatic.

I did think the music was often out-of-place. Sometimes it sounded like a family movie, then a thriller, then a melodramatic relationship drama and then The Godfather.
